Base Class: Ranger
The Ophidian is a ranger subclass themed around using abilities to debuff, deal damage, and improve your fortitude. This class doesn’t rely on a specific god but being that the subclass is themed around the attributes of a snake, a snake-like god or benefactor is encouraged. This class also doesn’t have a specific alignment.
Ophidian Spells
When you reach a Ranger level specified in the Ophidian Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
3rd: Command
5th: Invisibility
9th: Hypnotic Pattern
13th: Vitriolic Sphere
17th: Contagion
Hidden Sense
Hidden Sense: You’ve adapted to sensing vibrations in the ground to locate hidden foes. As a bonus action, you gain tremorsense out to a range of 15 feet for 1 minute. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to your wisdom modifier.
Venom's Burn
Venom’s Burn: At the beginning of your turn, roll a 1d8 to determine the number of extra acid damage you can apply for the turn. Whenever you land an attack, you can choose to unleash a number of points below or equal to the number rolled on the die. The number of points you select deals that number of points worth of acid damage to the target. So for example, if you roll a 4 on your die and you want to dump 3 extra points worth of damage into the target, you damage the target for an extra 3 acid damage and have 1 point remaining in the pool. Your pool resets at the beginning of your next turn, but before you roll your new Venom’s Burn Die. This die upgrades to a 1d10 at level 7 and then a 1d12 at level 11.
Toxic Reciprocation
Toxic Reciprocation: When you or a creature you see within 30 feet is hit by an attack, you may use your reaction to subtract a number equal to your wisdom modifier from the attack roll. If that attack misses, that creature takes additional acid damage equal to your wisdom modifier. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier per long rest.
Venomous Vigor
Venomous Vigor: You gain proficiency in constitution saving throws. If you have this proficiency already, you instead gain proficiency in wisdom or intelligence saving throws (your choice). Additionally, when using your Venom’s burn ability, you may add half your proficiency bonus (round up) to the total pool of acid damage.
Shedding This Coil
Shedding This Coil: When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you instead regain 1 hit point. Additionally, when the Shedding This Coil ability activates you may expend a total number of hit dice equal to your proficiency bonus to regain a total number of hit points equal to the total number of dice rolled and the total number on the dice rolled. For example, if you expend 3 hit dice and roll a total of 27 on the dice you would regain 30 (27 + 3 = 30) hit points on top of the 1 hit point you gain from the base ability. You can use this ability once per long rest.
