Base Class: Fighter
"There was no reason to… treat this wound."
"It was sure to burn again once you returned home anyway…"
Chosen by the unseen force guiding the Index to be molded into an imitation of an adventurer long since gone, you follow your prescripts, delivered on a device, to a Tee, and they have lead you unto the path you now follow.
Toolkit of the Oracle Proxy - Level 3
"Clap without a sound, slash without a voice."
"With a sharpened blade, cry out like the scent of fallen leaves and the roar of a waterfall."
The Prescript's Target
When you roll initiative, the DM chooses one creature you can see to become your Prescript’s Target.
You have advantage on any ability check made to track or locate your Prescript’s Target.
Once per turn, when you hit your Prescript’s Target with a weapon attack, the attack deals an extra 1d6 damage.
When your Prescript’s Target is reduced to 0 hit points or is no longer part of the encounter, the DM chooses a new creature to become your Prescript’s Target.
Only one creature can be your Prescript’s Target at a time.
Each time you hit your Prescript’s Target, you gain 1 stack of Grace of the Prescript. You can have a maximum of 9 stacks. You can only gain up to 2 stacks of Grace of the Prescript each round.
You gain a +1 bonus to weapon damage rolls for every 3 stacks (maximum +3). All stacks are lost when combat ends.
Prescript Delivered on a Device
You gain a Pager-like Device, which delivers you your Prescripts.
While outside of combat, you can consult the device to receive vague guidance about your next course of action (DM discretion).
While in combat, you can use a bonus action to override fate and assign your Prescript’s Target to a creature you can see.
Oracle Device [Caduceus]
You gain a small, golden vial, filed with a metallic liquid, which can be shaped into weapons that the Prescripts Decide are to be used.
The Oracle Device counts as a light melee weapon with the finesse property. You are proficient with the Oracle Device, and you can use Strength or Dexterity for its attack and damage rolls. The Oracle Device is considered Magical for the purposes of bypassing resistances and immunities.
Before each attack, roll a d10 to determine its form:
1- Hatchet, 1d6 Bludgeoning Damage.
2- Stiletto, 1d6 Piercing Damage.
3- Bastard Sword, 1d6 Slashing damage.
4- Rapier, 1d8 Piercing Damage.
5- Hammer, 1d8 Bludgeoning Damage.
6- Greatsword, 1d8 Slashing damage.
7- Lance, 2d6 Piercing damage.
8- Whip, 1d8 Bludgeoning damage, 15 Ft reach.
9- Scythe, 2d6 Slashing damage, 10 Ft reach, extended crit range (18-20).
10- Reroll
Index Proxy, Unlock - Level 7
"Wading through a dream, the self nowhere to be found. (無我夢中)"
"Like the Naraka of Avīci and Raurava. (阿鼻叫喚)"
"Severed and torn, until even the form is undone. (支離滅裂)"
Unlock
You gain benefits based on your current number of Grace of the Prescript stacks:
3-5 stacks: Unlock I - You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls
6-8 stacks: Unlock II - You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls
9 stacks: Unlock III - You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls.
Additionally, while at Unlock III, at the start of each of your turns, you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. These temporary hit points do not stack with themselves, but do stack with outside sources.
To hide borrowing Regret - Level 10
"… If I let you go here, you will never come home again."
"I could force you to stay, but I'd get nothing out of it."
"But that's still better than letting this empty regret burrow through the heart, isn't it, Darling Daughter?"
Ceramic Half-mask
While you have fewer than 9 stacks of Grace of the Prescript, When you take damage from a creature you can see, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d4 + your current Unlock stage.
While you have 9 stacks of Grace of the Prescript, this defensive property is suspended, and instead gain the following benefit:
At the start of each of your turns, until the start of your next turn, your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d4 + 3 damage.
Imitation of a Life - Level 15
"You've come too far to be free. Flee, if you will... but the soldiers of gods will pursue you."
"A dimwitted fool living a fabricated life. That's what you are. And who I am..."
Imitation of a Long Gone Hero
When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you gain 1 stack of Procuration [Hermes] (maximum of 9 stacks).
You can gain a number of Procuration [Hermes] stacks per turn equal to your Unlock stage (minimum of 0).
Furioso - [Crescendo]
If you have 9 stacks of Procuration [Hermes], you can use your action to unleash a devastating sequence of attacks.
Choose up to 6 creatures you can see within 50 feet of you.
You then make 9 attacks using your Oracle Device.
For each attack:
Roll a d6 to determine which of the chosen creatures is targeted (assign each creature a number from 1-6). You cannot willingly choose to target less creatures. If there are less than 6 targets, if the d6 rolls a number that was not assigned to a creature, reroll the die. If only one creature was chosen, you do not roll and instead target that creature with all attacks.
Roll for your Oracle Device weapon as normal before each attack.
For the final attack, you do not roll for the weapon. Instead, it becomes the Scythe.
After using this feature All Procuration [Hermes] stacks are removed, You cannot gain Procuration [Hermes] stacks until the end of your next turn, And you cannot use Action Surge on the same turn you use this feature.
After using Furioso - [Crescendo], you gain "Indulgence in Prescripts" until the end of combat.
While you have Indulgence in Prescripts:
Your movement speed increases by 10 feet.
When you roll damage for your Oracle Device, you can reroll any 1s or 2s, but must use the new rolls.
"Tu es belle à force d'être." - Level 18
"Peel back the very heavens... and cast aside all that seeks to steal my daughter from me."
"You cannot cut this off, sweetheart... This isn't something you can break off so easily"
"There's only one way out. The same way you came in from-the way home."
"You belong here, in this hell."
The Index Nursefather - Imitation of the Black Silence
Once per turn, when you would roll to determine your Oracle Device weapon, you can instead choose to roll a d4.
When you do so, select three weapon forms from the Oracle Device table and assign each to a result of 1-3 on the d4; a roll of 4 results in a reroll.
At the start of your turn, if you have reached Unlock III, you gain Shin (心) - Fate until the end of combat.
While you have Shin (心) - Fate, you gain the following benefits:
Your movement speed increases by 5 feet.
When you hit a creature with your Prescript’s Target, if it does not already have vulnerability to bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage, you roll a d4 to determine a damage type:
1 - Bludgeoning
2 - Slashing
3 - Piercing
4 - Reroll
The target becomes vulnerable to that damage type until the end of your current turn.
Your Ceramic Half-Mask feature is enhanced: while its offensive effect is active, your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d6 + 3 damage, instead of 1d4 + 3.
All Oracle Device weapon forms gain an extended crit range (19-20), Scythe extended crit range improved (17-20).

Posted Sep 16, 2026I really love this homebrew, it's honestly my favorite adaptation of Rien's kit into DnD. You should do Sora too!
