Base Class: Fighter
Born on blood-soaked battlefields and in forgotten war academies, Blade Reavers are warriors who have merged with the very concept of the cutting edge. Any bladed object becomes a deadly weapon in their hands, and their strikes leave enemies bleeding, crippled, and horrified. Legends whisper that a true Blade Reaver can turn a rusty shard into a vorpal instrument of slaughter.
Edge of the Reaver
Blade Reaver – 3rd Level
Bladed Proficiency. Any bladed object of appropriate size and shape counts as a slashing weapon for you (functioning mechanically like a longsword, greataxe, or similar weapon of your choice). Weapons such as shortswords or other edged blades are also considered slashing weapons for all purposes of this subclass. All subclass features and effects apply to your natural weapons that deal slashing damage. If you hit a creature with a slashing weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn and you have Advantage on your next attack roll with a slashing weapon against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Keen Edge. Your attacks with slashing weapons score a critical hit on a roll of 19–20. This range improves as you gain levels in this subclass: 18–20 at 7th level, 17–20 at 10th level, 16–20 at 15th level, and 15–20 at 18th level.
Bleeding Wounds. When you hit a creature capable of bleeding with a slashing damage attack, it begins to bleed and takes 1d6 slashing damage at the start of each of its turns. The bleeding ends if the creature or an ally uses an action to succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom (Medicine) check or if the creature regains any hit points. Multiple instances of bleeding stack.
Crippling Slash. Once per turn when you hit a creature with a slashing damage attack, you can reduce its speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
Unyielding Resistance. You gain resistance to slashing damage and damage from weapons and magic that deal slashing damage. This resistance cannot be bypassed or ignored by any means.
Grievous Wounds. When you hit a creature with a slashing weapon attack and the attack roll is exactly two less than the lowest number needed for a critical hit with your current Keen Edge (for example, on a 19-20 crit range this triggers on a 17), you grievously wound it. Until the start of your next turn, the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls.
Reaver’s Fury
Blade Reaver – 7th Level
Reactive Blade. When a creature moves within your reach or attacks you, you can use your reaction to either increase your AC by 5 until the end of your next turn or make one attack with a slashing weapon against that creature if it is within range. You must be wielding a melee weapon that deals slashing damage to use this ability.
Slashing Supremacy. All slashing weapons you wield ignore resistance and immunity to slashing damage. They also gain the full property of a sword of sharpness. When the sword of sharpness effect activates, the target takes an extra 14 slashing damage. In addition, the sword of sharpness effect (including the limb-lopping effect) activates when the attack roll is one less than the lowest number needed for a critical hit with your current Keen Edge or higher (for example, on a 19-20 crit range this triggers on an 18 or higher). When this triggered effect activates, the target takes an extra 14 slashing damage and you roll the weapon’s damage dice three times instead of once, adding the results together plus any modifiers. If the roll would also qualify as a natural 20, you lop off one of the target’s limbs (or a portion of its body if it has no limbs), with the effect determined by the GM.
Bonus Slash. You can make one extra attack with a slashing weapon as a bonus action on your turn.
Blood Rage. Whenever you cause a creature to bleed using your Bleeding Wounds, you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier (minimum 1).
Apex Edge
Blade Reaver – 10th Level
Vorpal Edge. All slashing weapons you wield gain the property of a vorpal sword, but the effect activates on a critical hit. On a critical hit against a creature that has a head, you sever its head and it dies instantly. If the creature cannot be decapitated or survives without its head, it instead takes an extra 6d8 slashing damage.
Slash Immunity. You gain immunity to slashing damage and all damage from weapons and magic that deal slashing damage. This immunity cannot be bypassed or ignored by any means.
Advanced Hemorrhage. Your Bleeding Wounds now deals 2d6 slashing damage at the start of each turn, and the DC for the Wisdom (Medicine) check to stop the bleeding increases to 15.
Relentless Harvest
Blade Reaver – 15th Level
Furious Onslaught. You can make two attacks as a bonus action with slashing weapons. In addition, when you make an opportunity attack or use your reaction to attack with a slashing weapon, you make two attacks instead of one.
Enhanced Crippling. The speed reduction from your Crippling Slash increases to 20 feet.
Unyielding Precision. You cannot have disadvantage on attack rolls made with slashing weapons. When you attack a creature with a slashing weapon and hit, you can maximize your weapon damage dice against the target.
God of the Blade
Blade Reaver – 18th Level
Advantageous Slashes. You have advantage on all attack rolls made with slashing weapons.
Vulnerable Wound. When you hit a creature with a slashing weapon attack, you can choose to make that creature vulnerable to the slashing damage of that specific attack (it takes double damage from the slashing portion of the attack).
Eternal Hemorrhage. Your Bleeding Wounds now deals 3d6 slashing damage at the start of each turn, and the DC for the Wisdom (Medicine) check to stop the bleeding increases to 18. The bleeding can now only be ended by magical healing or similar effects that restore hit points.
Improved Grievous Wounds. Your Grievous Wounds feature now also applies when the attack roll is exactly three less than the lowest number needed for a critical hit with your current Keen Edge.
Improved Slashing Supremacy. Your Slashing Supremacy feature now also activates when the attack roll is exactly two less than the lowest number needed for a critical hit with your current Keen Edge.
