Base Class: Monk
Practitioners of the Way of the Shinobi dedicate their lives to the study of stealth and deception. They typically work as spies and assassins.
Shinobi Training
Whenever you choose the Way of the Shinobi tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Stealth and Deception skills if you don’t already have them, proficiency with the poisoner’s kit, and proficiency with longswords. Additionally, longswords count as monk weapons for you.
Flurry of Steel
Also at 3rd level, whenever you use Flurry of Blows, if you are wielding two monk weapons or wielding one monk weapon with two hands, you can replace any number of unarmed strikes with monk weapon attacks.
Jutsu Initiate
Starting at 6th level, you have mastered certain ninja arts. You gain one of the following benefits and can change which benefit a short or long rest. At 11th level, you always have all three benefits.
- Togakure. You gain proficiency in the Perception skill if you don’t already have it. You also gain expertise in that skill and blindsight up to 30 feet.
- Iga. You gain expertise in the Stealth skill. Additionally, whenever you make an attack with advantage, you can add your martial arts die to the damage.
- Koga. You gain expertise in the Deception skill. Additionally, you may cast Disguise Self by spending 1 Ki point.
Nimble Footwork
Beginning at 11th level, you can move along vertical surfaces and ceilings as if under the effects of the Spider Climb spell. Additionally, you gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.
Counterattack
At 17th level, you have learned that the best defense is a good offense. Whenever a creature you can see targets you with an attack, you may use your reaction to do one of the following:
- Make one melee attack against that creature using a monk weapon. When you do, you may reduce the damage you take by the amount you inflicted plus your monk level.
- Spend 1 Ki point to use Flurry of Blows.
You may use this feature after the DM announces the results of the attack, but before damage is rolled.
