Base Class: Monk
This is a Subclass based on the real-life martial art of Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and is made to be both realistic and fun to play.
Grappling Arts
You have focused your study of martial arts on the ways of grappling and gained the following benefits.
Improved grappling: You can Grapple a creature as a bonus action and add your wisdom modifier to grappling saving throws and escapes, you can also use your dexterity instead of strength to preform a grapple.
Grappling techniques:
Armbar:
As an action, make an unarmed strike on a grappled creature, on a success the target must make a DC 15 strength saving throw and if they fail they take damage equal to 2 rolls of your martial arts die + your dexterity modifier, cannot cast spells which have somatic components, and have disadvantage on attack rolls until they use an action to aid their hurt limb. You can use this ability a number of times per short or long rest equal to your dexterity modifier.
Omoplata:
As an action, make an unarmed attack on a grappled enemy and on success the target must make a DC 15 dexterity saving throw and on a failure they take damage equal to one roll of your martial art die + your dexterity modifier, cannot cast spells which have somatic components, cannot take an action until your next turn. all attacks made against the target are at advantage until your next turn. You can use this ability a number of times per short or long rest equal to your dexterity modifier.
Improved grappling
You can Grapple a creature as a bonus action and wisdom modifier to the DC of grappling saving throws and grappling escapes
Level 6: Expanded Techniques
as your understanding of your grappling arts has expanded you have learned new techniques:
Full force takedown:
As an action, You can expend 2 Ki Points to make an unarmored attack on a grappled target and on a success the target takes damage equal to 3 rolls of your martial arts die + your dexterity modifier, the target is knocked prone and, losses the grappled condition.
Deflect attack: Hip toss
When you use the deflect attack feature and reduce a melee weapon attack to 0, as part of the same reaction you can make an unarmed strike against the attacker. On a success, they’re knocked prone. When you gain the deflect energy feature, you can use this on a melee spell attack.
Rear naked choke:
You can make an unarmed attack on a grappled target and if you succeed you deal no damage and put them in a choke hold. While in a choke hold, the target cannot use any bonus actions or reactions. At the beginning of the creature’s turn they can make a DC 15 strength check, on a success they lose the grappled condition and on a failure they take damage equal to 2 rolls of your martial arts die + your dex mod. Moving or attacking any creature other than the one you are choking will end this condition. You can use this ability a number of times per short or long rest equal to your dexterity modifier.
Empowered focus:
You can expend 1 Ki point and regain all uses of a grappling technique of your choice.
Level 11: Unstoppable Grappling
You can now grapple creatures up to 2 sizes larger than you as if they were your size.
If a creature fails 2 saving throws against your Rear Naked Choke that creature gains the incapacitated condition.
Level 17: Supreme Mastery
You may choose 2 monk abilities which require Ki points or have a limited number of uses; they become mastered techniques. Mastered techniques gain your wisdom modifier to their damage, DC, and attack rolls, cost no Ki points to use and have no limit to a the number of uses.
