Base Class: Fighter
The pharaoh is the chosen of the Phoenix, and the Lion Legion is its claws. Inspired by the lionheaded goddess, Sekhmet, the Lion Legionnaire Fighter focuses heavily on attacking from a distance with polearms. They favor coordination over brute force and are known worldwide for their impeccable footwork and battlefield awareness.
Keshanar is a land of unforgivingly hot weather. Most would prefer not to march long hours under the scorching sun in Heavy armor, so they train extensively to avoid damage with artful parries, distance control, and unit cohesion. Every Legionnaire in a unit protects their fellows as much as themselves. Players of this class may be active or retired Lion Legionnaires. In other lands, these may be any sort of elite light infantry or even some prizefighter and mercenary types.
Level 3: Legionnaire Weapons
Your specialized training allows you to do extraordinary things with Legionnaire weapons, which are weapons with the Reach and Heavy properties, as well as Quarterstaffs, Spears, and Tridents.
For you, Legionnaire weapons count as having the Finesse property, and you can ignore any Strength requirements from the Heavy property.
While wielding a Legionnaire weapon, you can use your Dexterity instead of your Strength to determine your jumping distance or to make Athletics checks as part of a High or Long Jump.
You can use a Legionnaire weapon as a vaulting pole, giving yourself Advantage on any Athletics check you make as part of a High or Long Jump.
Level 7: Tactical Push
When you take a Bonus Action to expend a use of your second wind, rather than regaining Hit Points, you can give yourself Advantage on all attack rolls you make until the end of your turn.
Level 10: Agile Parry
While wielding a Legionnaire weapon with two hands and not wielding a shield, you add half your Proficiency Bonus to your AC (rounded down).
Level 15: Pride Stance
If you take the Dodge action while wielding a Legionnaire weapon, you can choose to perform a spinning flourish with your weapon that provides an AC bonus equal to your Proficiency Bonus to you and any allies within your weapon’s reach (this replaces the AC bonus you get from Agile Parry).
This bonus lasts until the beginning of your next turn. It ends early if you are no longer wielding a Legionnaire weapon or choose to end it early (no action required).
Level 18: Sekhmet’s Pounce
When you use your Action Surge, you gain the following effects until the end of your turn (you can use your Action Surge before you take your normal action).
Burst of Speed. Your Speed is doubled.
Fleet Movement. Your movement does not provoke Opportunity Attacks.
Pouncing. Your jump distance is doubled.
Fangs of the Legionnaire. Your attack rolls with Legionnaire weapons score a Critical Hit on a roll of 19–20.
