Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who follow the Path of the Apex embody the purest form of predation, channeling their rage not as wild destruction, but as focused, relentless pursuit. Where others lose themselves in fury, these warriors sharpen it into instinct, honing their senses until every movement, every breath, and every heartbeat aligns toward a single purpose: the hunt.

To an Apex Barbarian, battle is not chaos—it is a hunt already decided. They mark their prey, track it through blood and fear, and close the distance with unstoppable certainty. Wounded foes cannot hide, illusions cannot deceive them, and escape is little more than a delay. Once chosen, prey is pursued until it falls.

As their power grows, so too does their dominance. The scent of blood drives them into a frenzy of speed and precision, while their presence alone instills primal terror in those marked for death. In the height of their rage, they become something more than mortal—a force of nature that turns the battlefield into hunting grounds, where every weakened enemy is claimed and every kill fuels the next pursuit.

To stand against an Apex Barbarian is not to fight a warrior.
It is to be hunted.

Apex Predator

3rd-level Path of the Apex feature

When you enter your rage, you can designate a creature as your prey.

When you do so, you can cast Hunter's Mark as part of the same bonus action you use to enter your rage, without expending a spell slot or requiring concentration. Strength is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

While raging in this way, the spell does not require concentration and lasts until your rage ends or its duration expires.

Additionally: Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature affected by your Hunter’s Mark, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + Strength modifier).

On a failed save, the creature is frightened of you.

A frightened creature remains frightened of you until: it is no longer affected by your Hunter’s Mark, or it is no longer bloodied (has more than half its hit points).

You can apply this effect a number of times per turn equal to your proficiency bonus

Blood Frenzy

6th-level Path of the Apex feature

You can track prey through the scent of spilled blood alone.

You can perceive bloodied creatures within 120 feet as if you had blindsight, but only for bloodied creatures. You are aware of its position even if it is invisible, heavily obscured, or otherwise hidden from sight, as long as it is bloodied.

While a bloodied creature is within your line of sight or you can perceive it, your walking speed increases by 5 feet for every two barbarian levels you have.

In addition, when you move directly toward a bloodied creature, your movement does not provoke opportunity.

Once on each of your turns when you hit a bloodied creature, you can immediately cast Hunter’s Mark on it without expending a spell slot, provided you are not already marking another creature.

Relentless Pursuit

10th-level Path of the Apex feature

Your hunt does not end while prey still remains.

If your rage would end while a creature is affected by your Hunter’s Mark, your rage instead continues as long as that creature remains marked and you are not incapacitated.

While your rage is extended in this way, you have disadvantage on attack rolls against any creature other than the one affected by your Hunter’s Mark.

Creatures affected by your Hunter’s Mark have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception), Wisdom (Insight), and Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to perceive or locate you.

You gain expertise in Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track bloodied creatures or creatures affected by your Hunter’s Mark. If you are not proficient in Survival, you gain proficiency in it instead.

Wild Hunt

14th-level Path of the Apex feature

You become the ultimate predator—inescapable, relentless, and absolute.

When you enter your rage, each bloodied creature you can see becomes your prey and is affected by your Hunter’s Mark, without requiring a spell slot or concentration, and without limit on the number of creatures affected.

In addition, when you enter your rage, you can choose a number of creatures equal to your proficiency bonus that are within 15 feet of you and are not already affected by your Hunter’s Mark. Each of those creatures becomes affected by your Hunter’s Mark.

When a creature affected by your Hunter’s Mark is reduced to 0 hit points, you can immediately choose a new creature you can see to become affected by your Hunter’s Mark. This does not require an action or bonus action.
