Base Class: Monk
Warriors of Contagion have discovered how to corrupt the purity of their Focus, turning their internal energy into a virulent, corrosive force. By striking at the vital pathways of their enemies, they plant seeds of decay that wither the body from within.
Level 3: Toxic Strike
3rd-Level Warrior of Contagion feature
Your mastery of Focus allows you to manifest energy as a physical toxin. Once per turn when you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike and deal damage, you can expend 1 Focus Point to deal extra Poison damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die plus your Wisdom modifier.
Level 3: Lingering Affliction
3rd-Level Warrior of Contagion feature
You can surge your Focus into a foe's system to trigger a cascading failure of their biology. Whenever you deal damage to a creature using your Toxic Strike feature, the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become Afflicted.
At the start of each of its turns, an afflicted creature takes damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die. The damage type is the same as the additional damage dealt via Toxic Strike. After taking this damage, the affliction weakens; the damage die for the next turn becomes one size smaller (e.g., 1d8→1d6→1d4). After the d4 damage is dealt, the affliction ends.
-
Reset. If you deal damage with your Toxic Strike feature to a creature already afflicted, the die size resets to its maximum value (your current Martial Arts die).
-
Limit. You can have a number of creatures afflicted simultaneously equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1).
Level 6: Elemental Decay
6th-Level Warrior of Contagion feature
You have learned to mutate the nature of your toxic energy. Whenever you deal damage using your Toxic Strike feature, you can choose to have it deal Acid or Necrotic damage instead.
Additionally, your body becomes a sealed system; you have Resistance to Poison damage and have Immunity to the Poisoned condition.
Level 11: Focused Detonation
11th-Level Warrior of Contagion feature
You have learned to trigger a violent, instantaneous reaction in the energy you’ve planted within a host. As an Action, or in place of one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can spend 2 Focus Points to end the Lingering Affliction on a creature you can see within 60 feet.
When you do so, the target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, it takes damage of your Toxic Strikes type equal to two rolls of your Martial Arts die for each step the affliction had remaining. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage.
| Lingering Affliction Die | Remaining Steps | # of Martial Arts Die to Roll |
|---|---|---|
| d12 | 5 | 10 |
| d10 | 4 | 8 |
| d8 | 3 | 6 |
| d6 | 2 | 4 |
| d4 | 1 | 2 |
Level 17: Terminal Contagion
17th-Level Warrior of Contagion feature
Your mastery over the virulent nature of your Focus is absolute. You gain the following benefits:
-
Sustained Virulence. You no longer roll for your Lingering Affliction damage. An afflicted creature simply takes the maximum value of the current die at the start of its turn.
-
Sympathetic Resonance. Your Focus acts as a systemic tether between those you have infected. Whenever you use your Toxic Strikes to apply or reset Lingering Affliction on one creature, every other afflicted creature also has its affliction die reset to its maximum value.
-
Viral Feedback. Once per turn, when an afflicted creature takes damage from your Lingering Affliction at the start of its turn, every other creature currently afflicted by you immediately takes half that amount of damage (of the same type).
