Base Class: Ranger
Most folk hunt the living, but some hunt the dead. Rangers who become Grave Wardens seek to keep the dead as they should, using undeath against the undead, taking advantage of the powers of those they hunt. Afterall, the best way to know your enemy is to be your enemy.
Level 3: Grave Warden Spells
When you reach a Ranger level specified in the Grave Warden Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Ranger Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Ray of Sickness |
| 5 | Ray of Enfeeblement |
| 9 | Speak with Dead |
| 13 | Death Ward |
| 17 | Contagion |
Level 3: Necrotic Mark
You can empower yourself with by channeling your undead powers. When Concentrating on Hunters Mark your weapons deal an additional 1d4 damage and the damage type is necrotic if chosen. This damage increases to 1d6 at level 5, and 1d8 at level 12. When doing so your weapons appear to be rotted, rusted, damaged in some other way.
You know how to hurt the undead even with their own attacks. Necrotic damage dealt with this feature ignores resistances.
Additionally, you have resistance to necrotic damage.
Level 7: Corpse Explosion
You are now able to use the dead to your advantage, same as the undead.
Your wisdom modifier number of times per day, when a creature within 30 feet of you that you can see dies from necrotic damage, you may use an action on your turn to cause the corpse to explode with a range of 10 feet. All creatures within 10 feet must make a saving throw against your spell save DC. On a successful save take half damage from the explosion. On a failed save deal 2d10 necrotic damage and apply Hunters Mark for 2 turns (not requiring concentration). This triggers your Necrotic Mark ability.
Level 11: Chain Reaction
Your Corpse Explosion has become more potent as your refilling of escaped graves becomes a side thought.
When a creature dies while under the affect of Hunters Mark applied by corpse explosion, they also explode dealing 2d10 necrotic damage and casting Hunters Mark for 2 rounds (concentration not required), or half as much and no Hunters Mark on a successful save.
Level 15: Undead Form
Once per long rest, as a Bonus Action when concentrating on Hunters Mark, you can gain an undead form where your flesh is replaced with a skeleton (applies to creatures who do not have a skeleton). While in this form you can choose cause the Hunters Mark you are concentrating on to instead last 10 turns. All abilities that require concentration on Hunters Mark to activate instead last until the spell ends. Additionally, you gain immunity to necrotic damage and your Corpse Explosion can be used as a reaction to a range of 60 feet. The damage from Corpse Explosion now has a range of 20 feet and does not deal damage to creatures of your choice. If you were to hit 0 Hit Points while in your Undead Form, instead the form will end, you drop concentration on Hunters Mark, and you live at 1 Hit Point. This form also ends when your Hunters Mark ends.
