Way of the White Jade

Monks of the Way of the White Jade have mastered the advanced form of ki manipulation. They learn how to compress their ki into solid, pure white pearls and how to use them in ranged combat to gain an edge against their enemies or use them as last defense.

White Jade

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your own ki to take on a solid form. You gain the ability to summon 2 ki White Jade pearls, these can orbit around you, be part of a prayer necklace or bracelet. You can use these pearls, one for each attack, to make a ranged weapon attack with a range of 60 feet. On impact the pearl deals a Martial Arts die bludgeoning damage and returns to you afterwards. The damage die scales with the Martial Arts die on 5th, 11th and 17th level and additionally you gan the ability to summon to more pearls per die increase. Futhermore, starting 6th level the pearls also gain the effects of Ki-Empowered Strikes.

If a pearl is lost, destroyed or spend you can meditate for 10 minutes to form a new pearl from your spiritual energy.

Last Defence

At 6th level, you gain the ability to use your White Jade pearls more defensivly. You can use your reaction to spend 1 ki point to summon your pearl to defend yourself or an ally. If you do, you sacrifice your pearl to block half of the incomming damage. This does only work when the attack uses an attack roll. 

Ki Mastery

Beginning at 11th level, you can manipulate your ki more freely. You can use your bonus action to use one of the following effects:

• You can spend 2 ki points to create a White Jade pearl.
• You can sacrifice a White Jade pearl to gain 2 ki points.
• You can spend 2 ki points to imbue your pearls with elemental energy. You choose a type of damage wich the pearls will now deal as magical damage for 10 rounds or 60 seconds. If you want to change the damage type back to bludgeoning damage, you may do so freely.

Additionally you gain the passive effect to choose if your White Jade should return to you after making a ranged weapon attack or if it should remain where it is at long as it is in 60 feet range to you. You can make attacks from that new position. You may also use your bonus action to position a pearl in a 30 feet radius around freely, as long as you can still see your pearl.

Expanding Jade

At 17th level you master the most dangerous abilities to manipulate our White Jade. You can use your action to use one of the following effects:

• You can spend 4 ki points to rapidly expand the White Jade pearl in a 15 feet radius around it, sacrificing it in the process. Every creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw, if it fails it takes 10d10 force damage or half as much if it succeds.
• You can spend a number of 1 ki points up to a maximum of 4 to expand your White Jade pearl into a deadly ki spike, making a meele attack with a range of 10 feet with it. If you do so the White Jade deals magical piercing damage if it isn't imbued with an element and you roll an additional damage die fo each ki point spend.
