Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Somewhere between the radiant light of the gods and abyssal darkness from the chaotic realms exists the colorless neutrality of the shadows. Your patron, most likely a denizen of the Shadowfell, exists surrounded by shadows, shaping, controlling, and melding with them. With their blessing, you too gain subtle control of the shadows, feeling most comfortable where your senses are strong and presence is diminished.

Comfort in Shadows

Beginning at 1st level, your patron has given you a new perspective on shadows. You receive no penalties from being in dim lighting. Also, while in dim light you can add your Charisma modifier to your AC if you are wearing no more than light armor.

Shadow Aura

Also at 1st level, as a bonus action, you can cause a 10ft radius around yourself to become dim light. The zone of dim light stays centered on you as you move. You can use an action to cause it to burst out to a 20ft radius and stays there for its remaining duration. The aura lasts for 1 min. The aura will slightly illuminate areas of darkness and will dim areas of bright light, though it cannot affect areas of magical darkness or light.

You can use this feature once at 1st level, at 6th level you can use it twice, and at 11th you can use it three times. You regain all expended uses after completing a short or long rest.

Shadowy Coalescence

Starting at 6th level, as an action, you can cause shadows to creep up and wrap around a creature. You can a creature standing in an area of dim light must make either an athletics or acrobatics check against your warlock spellcasting DC, becoming restrained if they fail. As an action, the creature can attempt to break out by making another athletics or acrobatics check against the same DC. Alternatively, you can cause it to shield an allied creature standing within shadows (this can include you), giving them resistance to radiant and necrotic damage and causes creatures to have disadvantage when making attacks of opportunity against them. Either effect lasts up to 1 minute. The effect can be ended early as a free action, but it will also fade if you fall unconscious.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Convincing Illusion

At 10th level, as an action, you can bend and shape shadows that are within 60ft of you. You can make it look like a creature of up to medium size or an object that fits into a 5ft cube. The shadow can move but makes no sound. Any creature that is also in dim light has disadvantage on checks made to discern the true nature of the illusion.

Shadow Form

When you reach 14th level, you can cover your whole body with a mantle of shadowstuff. As an action, you bolster yourself with shadows, giving you the following benefits:

  • You are considered to be in shadow while in this form.
  • Your Shadow Aura becomes more powerful, increasing its radius to 30ft while still centered on you. It also overpowers any other light changing spell of 3rd level our lower.
  • You gain natural weapon claws that deal 2d10 + your charisma modifier psychic damage, you can make 2 attacks with these claws if you take the attack action. The attack roll can be made using either your Strength or your Dexterity modifier + your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus. At 17th level, you can attack a third time.
  • You can use your move action to teleport up to 60ft to any other point that is unoccupied and in dim light.
  • You gain temporary hit points  equal to your Warlock level

This form lasts for 1 minute or until you fall unconscious. While in this form you have vulnerability to radiant damage.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
