Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of the Wild Card gamble with reality itself. These performers thrive on uncertainty, turning every moment into a high-stakes act where luck is just another tool.
Disclaimer: This subclass requires the use of the Wild Magic and Mischief deck by Will Earl and the Boons and Banes deck by Ginny Di to function in play.
Level 3: Gambler
You gain proficiency with Playing Cards. If you already have this proficiency or gain it later, you may gain proficiency in another Gaming Set of your choice instead.
In addition, you may use Charisma rather than Wisdom for any ability checks using Gaming Sets.
Level 3: Chaos Surge
Your performances tug at the threads of reality, causing unpredictable magical effects. When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, roll your Bardic Inspiration die (this does not expend it). On a 1, draw a card from Wild Magic and Mischief and resolve it. If no surge occurs, increase the trigger range by 1 (1 becomes 1–2, 1-2 becomes 1–3, etc.). The trigger range resets to 1 after a surge triggers. When a surge triggers, you may resolve the effect before or after the spell.
Level 6: Invoke Fate
You learn to tempt fate when chaos holds back. Once per turn when you cast a spell of 1st level or higher and Chaos Surge does not trigger, you may roll your Bardic Inspiration die (this does not expend it). On an even result, draw from the Boons deck. On an odd result, draw from the Banes deck. You can resolve the effect before or after the spell.
When you invoke fate, you may expend one use of Bardic Inspiration to draw from the Boons or Banes deck instead of rolling.
Level 14: Stacked Deck
You’ve learned to subtly rewrite the outcome of chance itself. When either of your College of the Wild Card features would cause you to draw a card, draw 2 cards from that deck instead and choose which one activates.
Once per Long Rest when you would draw a card, choose a card instead of drawing, then shuffle the deck you drew from.
