Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Sequencers steal and analyze the soul of their targets, allowing them to specialize their methods to suit each target. (This was originally written for a sci-fi version of 5e, so this subclass sequenced DNA instead of souls)

Trained Professional

  • When you choose this specialization, you gain proficiency in the medicine and history skills, if you didn’t already have them. You also have a magical Sequencer device that is capable of processing information about a person and storing results.
  • Once per short rest as your Cunning action, you may choose a target within 30ft of you that you have sequenced before. You may either give the target advantage or disadvantage on the next d20 roll they make.

Extract Soul

When you choose this specialization, you may spend 10 minutes sequencing the soul of a creature from which you have a sample (blood, hair, spit, etc.). In order to successfully sequence the target, you must succeed on a DC 13 INT Saving throw. On a failed save, the information gets corrupted and you can never attempt to sequence that target again. Once you have sequenced the soul of a creature, you have it stored indefinitely.

Rapid Sequence

When you choose this specialization, a number of times per short rest equal to your INT mod, you may use your Cunning Action to attempt to take and sequence the soul of a target within 5ft of you. The target must succeed a DC 10 + DEXmod Dexterity saving throw or you may attempt to instantly sequence them. In order to successfully sequence the target’s soul, you must succeed a DC 13 INT Saving throw.

Aminos

At 3rd Level, you learn different ways to manipulate people based on your knowledge of their souls. You learn two Aminos from the list. You can use Aminos a number of times equal to half your Rogue level (rounded down), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Aminos

Below are details of the Aminos you can learn:

Weak Points: When you choose the attack action against a target you have Sequenced, you can forgo one of your attacks to let an ally make one attack instead. Add your INT modifier to their damage. Doing so uses your ally’s reaction.

*Disarm: When you hit a target you have Sequenced with sneak attack damage, the target must make a DC 10 + INTmod Constitution saving throw or their body seizes and they either drop whatever they are holding in one hand of your choice or you can choose to have it fly 10 ft in a direction of your choosing.

*Distract: When you hit with a weapon attack against a target you have Sequenced, you can add your INT modifier to the damage you deal. The next attack roll against the target by an attacker other than you has advantage if the attack is made before the start of your next turn.

*Evade: When you move, you do not provoke opportunity attacks from creatures you have Sequenced for the duration of the turn.

*Knockback: When you hit a target you have sequenced with sneak attack, you may either knock the target prone or move it up to 10 ft away or towards you.

Protect: On your turn, you can use a bonus action to provide temporary protection to an ally you have Sequenced. When you do, choose a friendly creature that you have Sequenced who can see and hear you. That creature gains temporary hit points equal to twice your INT mod. These do not stack with other sources.

Counter: When a creature you have sequenced misses you with an attack, you can use your reaction to make one attack against it. If you hit, add your INT to the damage roll.

Immune Response: When a creature you have sequenced attempts to target you with a spell, you may give them disadvantage on an attack roll involved or give yourself advantage on a saving throw involved, whichever is applicable.

Nullify: If targeting a creature you have sequenced with an attack roll, you may remove any disadvantage imposed on the attack.

Long Distance Sequence: When attempting to use your Rapid Sequence ability, you instead select any target within 60ft of you.

*Soul Therapy: As a Cunning action on your turn, you may heal yourself and another target you can see within 60ft of you that you have sequenced a number of hit points equal to 1d4+INT.

Slight of Syringe: When you hit a creature that you have not sequenced with sneak attack damage, you may attempt to instantly sequence their soul.

Complete Sequence

At 9th Level, failing to sequence a target’s soul no longer prevents you from attempting to sequence that target again. Additionally, you learn two more Aminos. Furthermore, you gain advantage on INT and WIS skill checks for information regarding targets you have sequenced.

Soul Snipe

By 13th level, when you hit a target you have sequenced with sneak attack damage, you may use an applicable (*) Amino, even if you don’t already know it, for free on any target within 60 ft of you that you have sequenced.

Eliminate Target

When you reach 17th level, you no longer need to pass a saving throw to successfully sequence a creature’s soul. Additionally, sneak attack against creatures you have sequenced count as auto-crits.
