Monk
Base Class: Monk

Those raised in lands of long night and day learn to hone their selves in tune with the changing seasons. To tap into what parts of oneself constitute the lived experiences under sun and moon and harness them to power; such is the prerogative of Nousulasku.

Aspectual Gradation

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you are granted two stances. While in a stance, there are certain actions that can be performed to gain Flow, a stacking resource that enhances the other stance, an amount of which equal to your proficiency bonus can be held at once. The bonus conferred by Flow upon entering a stance decays by 1 at the start of each of your turns. You may switch your stance and consume all your accumulated Flow either by using a bonus action on your turn or as a reaction before being attacked:

Stance of Nousu (Morn):

While in this stance, you gain 10 ft. of unarmored movement speed, and are granted a bonus to attack and damage rolls with monk weapons equal to your Flow when entering this stance. Additional effects follow with features at higher monk levels.

You will gain one point of Flow by performing any of the following while in the Stance of Nousu:

  • Landing attacks on opponents while wielding a monk weapon; once per turn
  • Consuming Ki points to activate Flurry of Blows, Ki-Fueled Attack, or Stunning Strike
  • When an attack roll targeting you exceeds your AC; once per turn

Stance of Lasku (Eve):

While in this stance, you gain temporary hit points equal to the sum of your wisdom modifier and your Flow when entering this stance, as well as a bonus to your AC equal to your Flow when entering this stance. Additional effects follow with features at higher monk levels.

You will gain one point of Flow by performing any of the following while in the Stance of Lasku:

  • When an attack roll targeting you fails to meet your AC; once per turn
  • Consuming Ki points to activate Patient Defense, Step of the Wind, Deflect Missiles, or Diamond Soul
  • Missing attacks on opponents while wielding a monk weapon; once per turn

Aspectual Presence

At 6th level, you gain the ability to manifest certain effects corresponding to your stances out to a domain 10 ft in radius, centered around you and following your movement. Once per long rest, you may use your action to activate the following effects for 1 minute (as with Aspectual Gradation, the Flow bonuses will decay by 1 at the start of each of your turns):

Nousu Domain: Allies within your domain are granted 10 ft. of unarmored movement speed, as well as a bonus to attack and damage rolls with weapons they are proficient in equal to your Flow when entering this stance. Furthermore, each round, whenever opponents of your choice within this domain take damage, they will take additional flat damage equal to your wisdom modifier, up to a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per turn.

Lasku Domain: Allies within your domain are granted temporary hit points equal to the sum of your wisdom modifier and your Flow when entering this stance, as well as a bonus to their AC equal to your Flow when entering this stance. Furthermore, you will gain an additional number of temporary hit points equal to half your monk level, rounded down.

When you reach 11th level, the effects of Aspectual Presence will also extend to the Equinox Gradation feature and its Stance of Keski:

Keski Domain: On your turn, you may expend 1 Flow (or Ki) point to grant an ally the benefits of any of the following Monk features until the start of your next turn, provided you yourself have access to said feature (any wording involving "Monk level" changes to match the sum of their class levels):

  • Patient Defense
  • Step of the Wind
  • Slow Fall
  • Ki-Empowered Strikes
  • Evasion

Equinox Gradation

At 11th level, you are granted a third stance for the Aspectual Gradation feature, which, in addition to the usual entry cost of a bonus action or reaction, also uses 1 Ki point:

Stance of Keski (Equinox):

While in this stance, any and all Ki abilities will first use your accumulated Flow when entering this stance instead of your Ki points. Additional effects follow with features at higher monk levels.

You will gain one point of Flow by performing any of the following while in the Stance of Keski:

  • Instigating Ki saves for which the target fails; once per turn
  • Succeeding on saving throws
  • Using an ordinary Ki point that is not paid with Flow

Alkusyy

At 17th level, once per turn, you may spend 1 Ki point to apply your current Flow as a bonus to the effects of a secondary stance (not including your current stance) without entering it. These effects persist until the start of your next turn:

Nousu: Gain a bonus to your attack and damage rolls equal to your current Flow.

Lasku: Gain a bonus to your AC equal to your current Flow.

Keski: Allows you to use an amount of Ki points up to your current Flow with no cost.
