Monk
Base Class: Monk

Warriors of the Bullet Fist have mastered weaving ranged weaponry with traditional unarmed strikes to become deadly combatants. They treat these weapons as an extension of their body and focus, blurring the line between martial artist and gunslinger. A Warrior of the Bullet Fist uses their ranged weapons to attack enemy weak points with a cold precision, giving openings for punishing and powerful strikes.

Ranged Specialist

When you select this subclass at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in one-handed martial ranged weapons and firearms, and these weapons count as monk weapons for you. You also ignore the loading property, and your ranged attacks are not made at disadvantage when within 5ft of a creature.

Additionally, when attacking with a ranged weapon, you may treat a 19 or 20 on the die as a critical hit.

Staggered Strike

At 3rd level, you have mastered the art of exploiting your enemy’s weaknesses to make openings for brutal attacks. When landing a critical hit on your turn, you may spend a focus point to make an additional unarmed strike any time before the end of your turn. The attack instead deals damage equal to two rolls of your martial arts die plus your Dexterity modifier; this attack is also made at advantage. You may only use this ability once per round. If the attack roll hits, you may apply one of the following effects:

  • Knockback: The target must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, you may knock the enemy prone or push the target up to 15 feet. This effect only works on large or smaller creatures.
  • Sweep: You may make an additional attack roll against another creature within 5 feet of the initial target. The damage is equal to one roll of your martial arts die and the damage type is the same as the staggered strike. You don't add your Dexterity modifier to the damage of this attack.
  • Intimidate: The target makes a charisma saving through. On a failure, the target has disadvantage on attack rolls against you until the start of your next turn. The target is immune to this effect if they are immune to the frightened condition.

Perfect Parry

Starting at 6th level, when you reduce the damage of an attack to zero using your deflect attacks feature against a melee attack, you may use redirect attack without expending a focus point. If the target fails the save, you may apply one of the additional effects of your Staggered Strike at no cost.

You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and you regain all uses on a long rest.

Quickdraw

Starting at 11th level, when using your flurry of blows, you may replace one of the attacks with an attack from a ranged weapon with which you are proficient.

Enhanced Staggered Strike

At 11th level, the additional effects of your Staggered Strike enhance in the following ways:

  • Knockback: If the target fails the save, you may knock the target prone AND push the target up to 15ft. This effect now works on huge creatures.
  • Sweep: You may add your dexterity modifier to the damage of the additional attack.
  • Intimidate: If the target fails the save, they now gain the frightened condition until the start of your next turn in place of the previous effects.

Deadly Precision

Starting at 17th level, when making an attack with a ranged weapon, you now score a crit on an 18-20 on the die.

Additionally, your staggered strike now deals additional damage equal to one roll of your martial arts die.
