Base Class: Bard
Level 3: Master of Deceit
You excel at distracting the senses and twisting reality. You gain proficiency in the Sleight of Hand and Deception skills.
Level 3: Tools of the Trickster
Your repertoire expands with essential illusions. You learn the Minor Illusion cantrip, as well as the Mirror Image and Illusory Double spells. They count as Bard spells for you, but they do not count against your number of Bard spells prepared. If you already know any of these spells, you can choose another Bard spell of the same level instead.
Additionally, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cast Illusory Double without expending a spell slot.
Level 6: Phantom Synergy
Your mastery over your duplicates allows you to split your consciousness and cast illusions effortlessly. You gain the following benefits:
Free Imagery: You can cast Major Image without expending a spell slot. You can do so a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Shared Senses: You can cast Mislead without expending a spell slot. You can do so a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest. When you cast it, you can choose to have the Mislead duplicate emerge from you as normal, or seamlessly take over one of your active Illusory Doubles. While active, you perfectly share senses with the duplicate with no delay; it mimics your actions, movement, and speech flawlessly.
Level 14: The Grand Illusion
Your duplicates are so convincingly real that they defy logic and can physically interact with the world. You gain the following benefits:
Flawless Deception: Creatures have Disadvantage on Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to discern your illusions. Furthermore, saving throws made by creatures to avoid gaining the Surprised condition from your Illusory Double or Bamboozle spells are made with Disadvantage.
Delayed Disappearance: When an Illusory Double is discovered by a creature, it no longer vanishes automatically. Instead, you can choose to let it remain, or use your Reaction to make it disappear at the exact moment you choose.
Tangible Projections: Your Illusory Doubles gain a physical presence. They can now use their actions to interact with objects and take combat actions such as Grapple, Shove (Push), or Help. They still cannot deal damage or make attack rolls.
Frenetic Escapes: You now regain all expended uses of your free Mislead feature when you finish a Short Rest or a Long Rest.

Posted May 23, 2026Sorry about how messy this looks, i had links to the pages for each of these spells as well as the 2 custom spells added onto the subclass but that prevented me from uploading it. any tips would be appreciated. i don't have many ideas for the lore of this subclass, anyone who knows more about the lore than i do would probably have a much easier time making a convincing backstory. this is my first attempt at a subclass, any lore references i could read to help make my next subclasses and this one feel more integrated into the established world would be awesome.
