Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Not all wizards consider psionics to be a form of magic, but there are some wizards who exercise their intellect toward the mastery of psionic power instead of arcane formulae. Psionic wizards, also known as psions, wield psychic power to directly alter the world around them instead of conventional magic. Though most specialize in either clairvoyance, telekinesis, or telepathy, they are capable of pyrokinesis, cryokinesis, teleportation, and all the other powers that wizards typically display.

Most psions develop their powers through meditation and years of disciplined training, yet some psions find a natural talent for psionic power. There are even psions who gain their power through the use of magical mind-altering substances. Most psions operate out of secret organizations that study the power of psionics, but they may also be lone actors or members of another group.

Mental Studies

When you select this school at 2nd level, you learn how to use a mental spellbook that exists only in your mind. The contents of your spellbook are copied into this new mental spellbook, which is not an object and cannot be taken from you, lost, damaged, or read by others. Thus, you can always use your mental spellbook.

You can add or copy spells into your mental spellbook as you could any other spellbook. You must spend gp as normal, although the cost is spent on ritual components that enhance your memory rather than on magical inks. The time it takes to copy a spell of any school into your mental spellbook is halved.

Psychic Gifts

Also at 2nd level, you gain one of the following benefits of your choice. Each time you gain a wizard level, you can change your selection for this feature.

Clairvoyance

You can touch a willing creature to utilize its senses instead of your own. For 1 minute or until either you or the target use a bonus action to end the effect, you see through the target's eyes and hear what it hears, gaining the benefit of any special senses that the target has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses.

Telekinesis

You learn the mage hand cantrip. If you already know this cantrip, you learn a different wizard cantrip of your choice. The cantrip doesn't count against the number of cantrips you learn as a wizard. You can cast mage hand without verbal or somatic components, and you can make the spectral hand invisible.

Telepathy

You can speak telepathically to any creature you can see within 60 feet of you. Your telepathic speech is in a language you know, and the creature understands you only if it knows that language, but this doesn't give the creature the ability to respond to you telepathically.

Psionic Defenses

Starting at 6th level, you gain resistance to psychic damage, and whenever you aren't wearing armor, you benefit from the mage armor spell.

Psychic Talent

At 10th level, you gain one of the following benefits of your choice. Each time you gain a wizard level, you can change your selection for this feature.

Clairvoyance

You always have the scrying spell prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare as a wizard. When you cast it, you don't need material components. You can also cast scrying without expending a spell slot, but once you do, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.

Telekinesis

You always have the telekinesis spell prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare as a wizard. When you cast it, you don't need verbal components. You can also cast telekinesis without expending a spell slot, but once you do, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.

Telepathy

You always have the Rary's telepathic bond spell prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare as a wizard. When you cast it, you don't need components. You can also cast Rary's telepathic bond without expending a spell slot, but once you do, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
Rary's telepathic bond must be selected in the character builder from the drop-down below.

Psionic Transcendence

At 14th level, you gain one of the following benefits of your choice. Each time you gain a wizard level, you can change your selection for this feature.

Clairvoyance

You have blindsight that extends out to a range of 30 feet, and you can't be deafened.

Telekinesis

While you aren't incapacitated, you can use your Intelligence modifier instead of your Strength or Dexterity modifier whenever you make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw, and whenever you are pushed or pulled against your will, you can reduce the distance you are moved by up to 10 feet.

Telepathy

When you take psychic damage, you can use your reaction to deal psychic damage equal to your wizard level to the source of the damage.
