Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Daring turn combat into spectacle. Duelists, lion tamers, masked vigilantes, and wandering heroes all count among their ranks. Their weapons lash, snap, and coil through the battlefield as part performance and part precision violence.
Level 3: Deadly Performance
You channel force of personality through elegant weapon play.
You gain proficiency with whips if you do not already have it.
In addition, when attacking with a light or finesse weapon, you may use your Charisma modifier instead of Strength or Dexterity for attack and damage rolls.
Lastly, you may add your charisma modifier to any athletic or acrobatics checks.
Level 3: Master of Whips
Your whip becomes an extension of your stagecraft.
While wielding a whip you may treat it as your arcane focus.
When you take the Attack action and make an attack with a whip, you may replace one attack with one of the following flourishes. The target must be within the whip’s reach.
The target must succeed on a Strength or Dexterity saving throw (their choice) against your spell save DC or suffer the effect.
This feature can affect creatures up to one size larger than you.
Level 6: Daring Assault
You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Additionally, when a creature fails its saving throw against your Master of Whips feature, it takes damage equal to your Bardic Inspiration die.
Lastly, when you use Bardic Inspiration on an ally, you may immediately move up to half your speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
Level 14: Legendary Showstopper
Your battlefield theatrics become impossible to ignore.
Whenever you hit a creature with a whip attack or it fails its saving throw against one of your whip flourishes, you may force it to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, the creature is charmed by you until the end of your next turn.
While charmed this way:
- the creature’s speed becomes 0
- it has disadvantage on attacks against creatures other than you
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier per long rest.
