College of Riddles

Bards of the College of Riddles travel far and wide to collect riddles and conundrums - in fact, for many, it has consumed their lives, becoming more of an obsession than a true College.

Bonus Proficiencies

Starting at 3rd level you gain proficiency with the Perception skill and two more of your choice from the following list: Arcana, History, Investigation, Nature, Religion, and Medicine.

Riddles in the Dark

Starting at 3rd level, you can challenge an enemy to answer a riddle created by you. At the start of an encounter, pick a creature and roll a knowledge-based skill check that you are proficient in. Your chosen target must make the same skill check. Whoever rolls higher wins the contest, and the winner gets advantage on all skill checks, saving throws, and attack rolls against or caused by the loser until one of them dies, or the encounter ends. You can instigate another riddle- off if your old opponent has died. Additional riddle-offs require a full round of action to create and ask a riddle.

Anytime you use this ability, you can choose to expend a use of Bardic Inspiration to "cheat" and create an alternate answer or ask an unanswerable question.

Stunning Riddle

Starting at 6th level, when you use Riddles in the Dark, the loser is stunned a number of rounds equal to the winner's Charisma modifier.

Riddle Factory

Starting at 14th level, when you use Riddles in the Dark, you can expend a Bardic Inspiration die to make a Performance check (contested by each creature's Wisdom saving throw) as a reaction to convince all creatures within 15 feet of the loser to move toward and attack them. All creatures persuaded by this check act as if under the effect of the Crown of Madness spell until the beginning for a number of rounds equal to your Charisma modifier.
