Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Be the shield that stands between the forces of evil and the weak. Paladins that take the Oath of Protection use their weapons as shields that shelter all those behind them. Your combat style can be summarized simply as “the best offense is the greatest defense.”

Channel Divinity

You gain two Channel Divinity options once you reach 3rd level.

Shock Nullifying Greatsword. As a reaction, when you or a creature within 30 feet of you is hit by an attack, you can use your movement speed to position yourself between both creatures, becoming the new target for the attack instead. You take half the damage the attack would have dealt and gain one point of Defensive Stance.

Emergency Protection. As a bonus action, choose a creature within 30 feet of you that you can see to be enveloped by the golden aura of your aegis. They gain a +2 bonus to the AC for 1 minute or until you fall unconscious. A creature blessed like this cannot receive AC bonuses from spell sources other than yourself.

Aura of Instability

At 7th level, you emanate an aura of vibrating quakes while you aren’t incapacitated. Any creature of your choice that is within 10 feet of you and hit by an attack gains one stack of Tremor.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Can’t Let You Through

Making sure those around you feel safe and protected has become second nature to you. Upon reaching 15th level you may use an action to gain two points of Defensive Stance and create an aura of warding 10 feet around you that lasts until you lose all points of Defensive Stance. You may take an attack of opportunity against any creature of your choice that enters, leaves, or attempts to hit another creature within this area, adding 5 points of Tremor to the creature of the attack hits.

You can use this feature a number of time equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses after a Long Rest.

Knight’s Greatsword Form

At 20th level you become an avatar of protection and comfort, empowered by the desperate pleads of the needy. As a bonus action, you gain the following benefits for one minute;

  • Your AC increases by 2
  • You have advantage on attack rolls against creatures that tried to attack you last turn, and you instantly crit against creatures that attacked a creature other than you last turn if you have points of Defensive Stance
  • If a creature of your choice within 30 feet of you fails a saving throw, you can use your reaction for them to reroll it. The must use the new roll

Once you use this feature you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest, unless you expend a 5th level spell slot to do it again.
