Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Freedom symbolizes a paladin’s unbreakable spirit to rid the world of tyranny and defend the innocent from oppression. Known as Free Knights, these liberators rise above the limitations of religious institutions, instead following their own unwavering principles in their quest for justice. In a world where the very foundations of law and order can be corrupted and used as weapons of oppression, these heroes stand tall, enshrining the ideals of equality, fraternity, and liberty above all else.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Shield of Freedom. As a bonus action, you can infuse your shield with divine power using your Channel Divinity. For 1 minute, you add half your proficiency bonus (rounded up) to your AC while wielding this shield. Additionally, you gain advantage on saving throws against being grappled and against magical effects that cause the grappled, stunned, restrained, charmed, paralyzed, or petrified conditions.

Light of Liberation. As an action, you brandish your holy symbol and pray for freedom, invoking your Channel Divinity. Choose a creature you can see or hear within 30 feet of you to end all magical effects on it that cause the charmed, grappled, paralyzed, petrified, restrained, or stunned conditions. Physical restraints are not automatically broken but the creature gains advantage on checks made to escape, unlock, or break any physical confinement for 1 minute. This includes attempts to escape a grapple or use thieves’ tools to unlock a holding cell.

Aura of Sacrifice

At 7th level, your dedication to protect your allies' manifests in a tangible manner. If a creature within 15 feet of you suffers damage and you are conscious and able to perceive the creature, you can choose to mystically absorb half of that damage as a free action. You cannot resist or reduce this transferred damage in any way (temporary hit points still function as usual against this damage).

If this feature’s damage reduces your hit points to 0, you can choose to remain at 1 hit point. Upon using this feature to remain at 1 hit point, your aura deactivates until you complete a short or long rest.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Hands of the Free Man

Starting at 15th level, when you or an ally within your Aura of Sacrifice takes damage and you are conscious, you can use your Lay on Hands feature as a reaction instead of an action on the damaged creature, ignoring the typical range restriction of Lay on Hands. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you complete a short rest.

Avatar of Freedom

At 20th level, as a bonus action, you can become an avatar of freedom. For 1 minute, your conviction manifests as a tangible aura, taking the form of an emblem of freedom that reflects your beliefs.

For the duration, you gain immunity to any magical effect that results in the stunned, restrained, charmed, paralyzed, or petrified conditions. Moreover, you and all allies within 20 feet of you continually benefit from the effects of the freedom of movement spell.

After using this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
