Base Class: Rogue
As a Monster Slayer, you gain the following features at each listed level.
- Level 3: Bane Magic, Identify Creature
- Level 9: Quick Weakness
- Level 13: Tactical Retreat
- Level 17: Motivation
Level 3: Bane Magic
As a Monster Slayer, you've learned some magic that's useful for weakening and finding your quarry.
You learn the following spells detailed below at each listed level, casting them using your Intelligence modifier. Your spellcasting DC is equal to 8 + your Intelligence modifier + your proficiency bonus, and your spell attack modifier is equal to your Intelligence modifier + your proficiency bonus. You can cast every spell you know of 1st level and above a number of times per short rest equal to your Intelligence modifier.
- Level 3: True Strike, Hunter's Mark, Magic Weapon
- Level 5: Bestow Curse
- Level 7: Locate Creature
- Level 9: Hold Monster
Level 3: Identify Creature
As a bonus action before making an attack, you can attempt to identify the species of a creature you are attacking. Attempt an Intelligence (Arcana) check with a DC of 10 + half the creature's challenge rating. On a success, you gain advantage on the attack roll and it counts as a Sneak Attack.
Level 9: Quick Weakness
If you are attacking a creature with a damage type vulnerability that you know about, you gain the ability to change the damage type of the attacks damage to be the vulnerable type.
Level 13: Tactical Retreat
As a reaction after taking damage, you can move up to half your maximum movement speed without triggering any attacks of opportunity. However, after doing this, the next actions you take on the next turn of yours must be to move back to the enemy and attack it. If the attack you make succeeds, the damage is doubled, or tripled if it's a sneak attack.
Level 17: Motivation
If you are making an attack against a creature who has hurt you before physically (via causing damage to your HP) or against a creature you have been paid to defeat, you have advantage on the attack roll and can roll damage twice and take the better result. If both rolls for the advantaged attack roll would succeed, you double the damage.
