Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

¨How did it feel, strapping that thing to your back and flying like a bat out of hell?¨

¨Well it's the closest I'll ever get to heaven, Mr. Hughes.¨-Cliff Secord

Aviators are skilled at flying and maneuvering in the air. They are among the few brave enough to challenge gravity and take the skies for themselves. Aviators are experts at surviving crashes and explosions and are smart enough to operate some of the world's most complex machinery. They thrive while flying whether it be on a glider, in a plane, or strapped to a jetpack. It is important to discuss what flying contraption your aviator has trained on with your DM before choosing this subclass and remember, the skies the limit, so be creative!

Crash and Burn

Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, reduce the damage die for fall damage from a d6 to a d4 and you do not fall prone after taking falling damage.

Brace for Impact

As an action, you can Brace for Impact. When you Brace for Impact you gain resistance to all non-magical damage until the start of your next turn.

Falling with Style

Starting at 7th level, you can Glide and your base long jump and base high jump becomes 30 feet with or without a running start.

When falling you can use your reaction to glide. While doing so, you continue to fall gently at a speed of 60 feet per round, taking no fall damage when you land. If you would fall at least 10 feet in this way, you may fly up to your movement speed in one direction you choose, although you cannot choose to move upwards, landing in the space you finish your movement.

You cannot glide while carrying heavy weapons or wielding a shield (though you may drop any held items as part of your reaction). You cannot glide while wearing heavy armor, or if you are encumbered.

Quick Start

Starting at 15th level, you gain the ability to Aerial Dash. As a bonus action, you can aerial dash. When you aerial dash you gain additional flying movement equal to your walking speed and enemies cannot make opportunity attacks against you.

Aerial Ace

You can finally take to the skies under your own power. At 15th level, you can cast the spell fly at will targeting only yourself.

Weightless

At 18th level, you are a master of flight. You gain a fly speed of 60 feet and while in the air you can Brace for Impact as a reaction to taking damage. You can also cast the spell fly at 7th level, at will without the previous restrictions.
