Base Class: Barbarian
This subclass shouldn't be the highest damage Barbarian—that's already occupied by classes like the Zealot or Berserker. Instead, it should be the one that controls the battlefield through overwhelming momentum. It advances relentlessly, scatters lesser foes, knocks towering monsters off balance, and shines brightest when facing the kinds of enemies that threaten entire kingdoms.
Rather than feeling like someone who loses themselves to fury, the Path of the Apocalypse Barbarian is frightening because of how focused they remain. Their rage isn't madness—it's absolute conviction. Every swing says the same thing:
"You may be the end of the world... but I'm the end of you."
Level 3 — Iron Resolve
While wearing heavy armor:
- You may Rage normally.
- Heavy armor never prevents your Barbarian class features unless a feature specifically says otherwise.
- Your movement speed is not reduced by heavy armor.
- You cannot benefit from a shield while raging.
Additionally, while raging and wielding a weapon with the Heavy property:
- Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d4 radiant damage.
- This increases to 1d6 at 10th level and 1d8 at 14th.
"The light does not shine from heaven.
It shines from the one still standing."
Level 3 — Worldbreaker
Whenever you hit a creature with a Heavy melee weapon, choose one:
- Push it 10 feet.
- Knock it prone (Large or smaller automatically; Huge or larger makes a Strength save).
- Break its Guard.
Break Guard
Until the start of your next turn:
- The target cannot take reactions.
- The next attack against it has advantage.
You may Break Guard once each turn.
Level 6 — Doom March
While raging:
- Difficult terrain doesn't cost extra movement.
- Opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.
- You ignore forced movement.
- You cannot be knocked prone unless you choose to be.
Whenever you reduce a creature to 0 HP, you may immediately move up to half your speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
Level 10 — Titan's Challenge
When you hit a creature Large or larger:
It must succeed on a Strength save or suffer one of the following:
- Lose concentration.
- Become frightened of you until the end of your next turn (once per creature per combat).
- Be unable to Fly until the end of your next turn.
- Have its speed reduced to 0.
Additionally,
Critical hits against fiends, undead, aberrations, monstrosities, and dragons occur on 19–20.
Level 14 — The Last Dawn
Once per long rest, when you would be reduced to 0 hit points:
Instead:
- Drop to 1 HP.
- Instantly enter Rage if you weren't already.
- Regain HP equal to 5 × your Barbarian level.
- End one condition currently affecting you.
- Gain resistance to all damage except psychic until your Rage ends.
- Every enemy of your choice within 30 feet must succeed on a Wisdom save or become frightened until the end of your next turn.
For the duration of that Rage:
- Every melee attack deals an extra 2d8 radiant damage.
- You score critical hits on 19–20.
- Your Heavy weapon attacks ignore resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
- If you reduce an enemy to 0 hit points, you may immediately make another melee attack as part of the same action (once per turn).
When the Rage ends:
You gain one level of exhaustion.
