Heroic Ballads

The Bard learns Heroic Ballads.

Not songs.

Legends.

Choose one after every Long Rest.

At 6th

Choose two.

At 14th

Choose three.

Ballad of Courage

Whenever you grant Bardic Inspiration,

the target gains temporary HP equal to your proficiency bonus.

Ballad of Victory

Whenever an ally uses Bardic Inspiration successfully,

they may move 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.

Ballad of Defiance

Creatures using your Bardic Inspiration have advantage against fear.

Ballad of Heroes

Whenever a creature spends Bardic Inspiration,

the next ally to attack that target gains advantage.

Ballad of Dawn

The first creature restored from 0 HP each combat regains additional HP equal to your Charisma modifier.

Ballad of Legacy

Whenever an ally rolls a natural 20,

they regain your Bardic Inspiration die.

See the pattern?

The Bard isn't buffing.

They're changing what inspiration means.

Level 3

Living Legend

Choose one ally after each Long Rest.

That creature becomes the Hero of your current Ballad.

Whenever they use Bardic Inspiration,

increase the die by one step.

d6 → d8

d8 → d10

etc.

Every day,

a different hero.

That's incredibly flavorful.

Level 6

Chorus of Heroes

Whenever an ally succeeds using Bardic Inspiration,

another ally within 30 feet gains one of the following:

  • Move 10 feet.
  • Temporary HP.
  • Stand from prone.
  • End frightened.

The legend spreads.

Level 14

The Final Verse

Once per Long Rest.

One minute.

Every ally within 60 feet gains:

  • One Bardic Inspiration die immediately.
  • Advantage on death saving throws.
  • Cannot be frightened.
  • Whenever they expend Bardic Inspiration,

heal proficiency bonus HP.

You're not inspiring one hero.

You're inspiring the entire battlefield.

Legends Never Die!

When you roll Initiative, you can grant one ally within 60 feet a Bardic Inspiration die. In addition, you can use your action or reaction to inspire all allies within 60 feet.

Each ally can immediately use a Bardic Inspiration die.

Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a Long Rest.
