Base Class: Fighter
Aegises are experienced warriors who realized what matters most in battle: their allies. Fighters that follow this archetype devote themselves to the protection and wellbeing of an individual or a group, often putting their own lives at risk. An Aegis may vary between a big, tough knight in shining armor, a swift and perceptive bodyguard, or a mentor who would do anything to defend their pupils.
Selfless Shield
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain the Protection fighting style (or another fighting style if you already chose it) and you don't need a shield to use it. Additionally, if you use it while wielding a shield and the attack hits the target anyway, you can choose to take the damage instead; if you are not wielding a shield, you are forced to take the damage.
The range of this feature increases to 10 feet at 10th level.
Protective Presence
At 7th level, your presence and actions save your allies from dangerous effects. As a reaction, when a creature within 5 feet that can hear or see you makes a Strength, Dexerity or Constitution saving throw, you can give that creature a bonus to the saving throw equal to your proficency bonus. Alternatively, if you must make that same saving throw and can see the creature, you may choose to fail the saving throw and and make that creature pass it.
The range of this feature increases to 10 feet at 10th level.
Ecstatic Defence
Starting at 10th level, your Selfless Protection and Protecting Presence features move you to a space 5 feet closer to the target, if needed. Moreover, whenever you use them, you gain an amount of temporary hit points equal to twice your Constitution modifier; you can't gain temporary hit points from this feature until your next turn.
Attentive Guard
At 15th level, your sharp reflexes allow you to move when most couldn't. You can take an additional reaction before the beginning of your next turn; you can't take multiple reactions in response to a single trigger.
Perfect Warden
Beginning at 18th level, your ability to protect others has become second nature. You can don and benefit from a shield without it occupying one of your hands, and allies within 10 feet of you recieve a bonus to their AC equal to the bonus given by the shield.
