Base Class: Warlock
Your patron is an ancient, unmoving entity of immense power—a bound leviathan, an eternally watchful sphinx, or a chained titan. They do not wander, and neither do you. Instead of granting you the power to slip away, your patron grants you the power to stand your ground, manifesting their essence to tether you to the earth and turn you into an immovable conduit of their will.
Level 3: Primordial Guardian Spells
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Gate Guardian Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Alarm, Arcane Lock, Sanctuary, Spike Growth |
| 5 | Glyph of Warding, Magic Circle |
| 7 | Guardian of Faith, Otiluke's Resilient Sphere |
| 9 | Hallow, Wall of Stone |
Level 3: Protective Grasp
Your patron takes a hold of you, physically anchoring you in place while lending their power. As a Bonus Action, you can summon tethers that wrap around you. The tethers appear as an aspect of your patron. While in this state, you gain the following benefits and restrictions:
-
Rooted: Your Speed becomes 0, and you cannot benefit from any bonuses to your speed.
-
Coiling Ward: The tethers enveloping you act as a physical barrier, granting you a +2 bonus to your Armor Class.
-
Far-Reaching Influence: The range of any Warlock spell you cast that requires a ranged attack roll increases by 30 feet.
-
Snaring Blast: Once on your turn, when you hit a creature with a Warlock spell attack, your magic momentarily entangles them, reducing their speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the target's speed has already been reduced by 10 feet or more, you can not further increase the reduction. This effect replaces previous speed reductions if they reduce speed by less than 10 feet.
This state lasts for 1 minute, but ends early if you are incapacitated, if you end it early as a Bonus Action, or if you leave the space where you activated the stance (including willing movement, forced movement, teleportation, or being moved by a mount or vehicle). You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Level 6: Fortified Tethers
Your connection to your patron grows stronger, reinforcing your tethers. While Protective Grasp is active, you have advantage on saving throws against being pushed, pulled, knocked prone, or moved against your will.
Additionally, when a creature within 10 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, you can use your Reaction to retaliate with a sudden, violent lash of your tethers. The attacker must make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature takes 2d8 Force damage and is pushed up to 15 feet directly away from you. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and is not pushed.
Level 10: Protecter's Vision
Nothing escapes the notice of an entity that has watched over the world for eons. While Protective Grasp is active:
-
Your ranged Warlock spell attacks ignore Half Cover and treat Three-Quarters Cover as Half-Cover.
-
Once on your turn, when you miss with a ranged Warlock spell attack, you may reroll the attack. You must use the new roll.
Level 14: Domain Influence
Your patron fully imposes their presence upon the battlefield, transforming the area around you into their personal domain. While Protective Grasp is active, you project a 30-foot aura that grant the following effects
-
Sanctuary: The area is Difficult Terrain for hostile creatures.
-
Lash: A hostile creature that starts its turn in the aura takes Force damage equal to your Charisma modifier.
-
Last Line: As a Reaction when a hostile creature you can see attempts to teleport into, out of, or within your aura, you can force it to make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, the teleport fails, the spell slot or use is expended, and the creature takes 3d8 Force damage from the spatial backlash.
