Level 3: Momentum Gauge

3rd level Unbound Tempest feature

You have a Momentum Gauge that starts at 0 at the beginning of combat. Whenever you move at least 10 feet on your turn (not necessarily in a straight line), your Momentum Gauge increases by 1, to a maximum of your proficiency bonus. The gauge resets to 0 at the end of your turn.

Velocity Strike

3rd level Unbound Tempest feature

When you take the Attack action, you can spend Momentum from your gauge to fuel strikes. For each point spent (max 3 per attack), that attack gains +5 feet of range (melee only) and deals +1d6 slashing damage. You must declare the spend before rolling the attack. You cannot spend more Momentum on a single turn than your Dexterity or Strength modifier (minimum 1).

Fluid Footwork

7th level Unbound Tempest feature

Moving through a creature’s space does not count as difficult terrain for you, and moving within 5 feet of an enemy does not provoke opportunity attacks if you have moved at least 15 feet this turn. When you use the Disengage action, you can move up to half your speed as part of the same bonus action.

Break the Stride

10th level Unbound Tempest feature

When you hit a creature with a Velocity Strike that spent at least 2 Momentum, you can immediately move up to 15 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. If you end this movement within 5 feet of another creature, you can make one melee weapon attack against it as part of the same action (no extra Action Surge needed). This attack cannot spend Momentum.

Unstoppable Rotation

15th level Unbound Tempest feature

Once per turn when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a Velocity Strike, your Momentum Gauge increases by 2 (up to its maximum) instead of resetting to 0 at the end of your turn. Additionally, when you finish a long rest, you can choose to start your first combat with Momentum equal to your proficiency bonus.

Infinite Acceleration

18th level Unbound Tempest feature

You can now spend up to your full Momentum Gauge on a single Velocity Strike (up to 6 points, if proficiency is +6). Each point adds +10 feet range and +1d6 damage (maximum +60 feet, +6d6). Additionally, once per long rest, when you move at least 30 feet in a straight line, you can make a Velocity Strike against every creature whose space you passed through (one attack roll per target). You cannot use this ability again until you finish a long rest.
