Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Resonant Soul study the hidden vibrations that underpin both magic and matter. By harmonizing their ki with these frequencies, they reproduce the effects of spells without ever casting one. Their techniques are not arcane incantations but perfected martial forms capable of generating thunderous shockwaves, freezing air, igniting flames, and bending force itself through the precision of body and spirit.

Where a wizard memorizes formulas, the Resonant Soul monk memorizes movements. Every stance, breath, and strike is a living spell written in flesh.

Resonant Techniques

Your martial training allows you to weave magical phenomena into your attacks.

Whenever you take the Attack action, you can replace one unarmed strike or monk weapon attack with one of the Resonant Techniques below.

A Resonant Technique is considered part of the attack that created it rather than a spell. It requires no verbal, somatic, or material components and cannot be counterspelled or affected by effects that interact with spellcasting.

The saving throw DC for your Resonant Techniques equals your Ki Save DC. Unless otherwise noted, a technique can only be used once during each of your turns.

Spellbreaker's Discipline

Spellcasters find it difficult to escape your relentless pressure. When a creature you can see within 30 feet casts a spell, you can use your reaction to move up to half your Speed toward that creature without provoking opportunity attacks. If this movement places the creature within your reach, you may immediately make one unarmed strike against it.

If the spell has not yet resolved and the attack hits, the spellcaster has disadvantage on any attack rolls made as part of that spell before the end of the current turn, and if the spell requires concentration, it begins with disadvantage on its first concentration saving throw. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum once), regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Martial Spellcraft

You have learned to stabilize more advanced magical patterns within your ki, allowing your techniques to rival spells of the second level.

Whenever you spend Focus Points on a Resonant Technique, your unarmed strikes count as one size larger for determining damage until the end of the turn.

Additionally, you learn new techniques.

Arcane Kata

Your mastery of Resonant Techniques reaches a level few mortals can comprehend. At this stage, you no longer imitate the structure of simple spells—you embody the principles that give rise to them. Every strike becomes a theorem of destruction, every movement a perfectly calculated disruption of reality itself.

Your techniques now rival the power of 3rd-level spells while remaining unmistakably martial. Rather than projecting magic outward, you deliver it through impossible feats of speed, precision, and ki control.

Whenever you use a Resonant Technique, your unarmed strikes until the end of the turn deal an additional 1d8 damage of the same type as the technique used.

Harmonic Resonance

After decades of discipline, your body has become a flawless conduit for resonant ki. You no longer recreate magic—you reveal the universal truths from which all magic originates.

Every motion carries overwhelming force, every breath harmonizes with the world itself, and every strike echoes through both body and soul.

Arcane Overcharge. At the start of your action you can roll your Martial Arts die. Add the result to every damage roll made by a Resonant Technique. If the technique deals damage over multiple attacks (such as Burning Dragon Strike), each attack gains this bonus. You can use this ability four times per long rest.

Mastered Resonance. Once per long rest, you may enter a state of perfect harmony with the underlying vibrations of existence. As a bonus action, you enter Mastered Resonance, which lasts for 1 minute or until you are incapacitated. While in this state, your body radiates faint rings of shimmering force, and the Focus Point cost of all Resonant Techniques is reduced by 1 (minimum 1).

When you activate a Resonant Technique that deals acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, psychic, radiant, or thunder damage, you may change its damage type to any other type on this list. Additionally, ignore resistance to the chosen damage type. If the target is immune instead of resistant, treat the immunity as resistance for this attack.
