Druid
Base Class: Druid

Circle of the City druids have limited Wild Shape options. To balance this, they have access to a spell list that includes skills meant to help them navigate social interactions and urban environments. They eventually gain the ability to use their druid spells even as a beast. At the highest levels, these druids can easily traverse urban environments and insert themselves into any social situation via Alter Self.

In practice, Circle of the City druids engage in more commerce than other druids; they often have to pay rent or else sleep rough on the streets. In a town or city, you might consult such a druid to find a missing person or animal, settle a dispute with a neighbor, rid a building of monsters, or manage plant life that can't be handled by the city government. You might not know a city druid by sight, however; many of them appear like rogues or, in some cities, travelling craftsmen.

CR column of the Beast Shapes table, but must abide by the other limitations there. Starting at 6th level, you can transform into a beast with a challenge rating as high as your druid level divided by 3, rounded down.
  • You also get access to humanoid-beast shapes such as Were-beasts. Additionally, any attacks made while in the beast form of a were-beast count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks and damage.

Additional Proficiency

When you choose this circle at 2nd level, you learn one additional druid cantrip of your choice. Additionally, the Circle of the City forgo traditional views on using (heavy, medium) metal armor and weaponry, however, they cannot use shields of any kind.

Circle Spells

Your mystical connection to the land infuses you with the ability to cast certain spells. At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to circle spells connected to the land where you became a druid. Choose that land — arctic, coast, desert, forest, grassland, mountain, swamp, or Underdark — and consult the associated list of spells.

Once you gain access to a circle spell, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.
