Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

Not all Artificer's craft mechanical or scientific doodads. Some find their power comes from the artistry inherent to their craft.

The Artisan wants to dedicate themself to a specific artform or craftsmanship. Many of the worlds most famous painters, smiths and weavers subconsciously channeled their magic into their creations. Only few became aware of their magical attunement and even fewer would became true Master Artisans when they achieved immortality through the legacy of their Magnum Opus: a legendary item.

Level 3: Artisanal Specialization

You dedicate yourself to a specific artform or craftsmanship.

You gain the following benefits.

Tool Specialization. You become proficient with a type of Artisan’s Tools of your choice from among: Calligrapher's Supplies, Carpenter's Tools, Cobbler's Tools, Glassblower's Tools, Hatter's Tools, Jeweler's Tools, Leatherworker's Tools, Mason's Tools, Painter's Supplies, Potter's ToolsSmith's Tools, Tattooist's Tools, Weaver's Tools or Woodcarver's Tools.
The chosen Artisan's Tool is your tool specialization. If you already had this proficiency from an earlier choice (such as your background or class), you may reassign that earlier proficiency to a different set of Artisan's Tools of your choice.

Note 1: Remember that with any tool you are proficient in, you may add your Proficiency Bonus to any ability check you make that uses the tool. If you have proficiency in a skill that’s used with that check, you have Advantage on the check too.
Note 2: Excluded from this list are Alchemist’s supplies, Brewer's SuppliesCartographer's Tools and Cook's Utensils as they don't benefit from this subclass and have their own thematically fitting subclasses.

Specialized Replication. When you replicate items using Replicate Magic Item, the number of magic items you can create at the end of a Long Rest is increased by one, if for at least one of those items you would logically use your tool specialization to create it.

Specialized Crafting. When you craft an item or structure using the crafting rules in the Player’s Handbook, if you would logically use your tool specialization to do so, the amount of time required to craft it is halved. An item or structure crafted this way gains resistance to damage.

Choose this option if your Artisan's Tool proficiency is not on D&D Beyond, then add it manually.

Level 5: Artisanal Expertise

Your understanding of your artform or craftsmanship has grown immensely. You feel that skills involved in your craft are uplifted as a result of your dedication to daily practice.

You become proficient in two skills that you expect to use in combination with your tool specialization.

Then, choose a skill in which you are proficient that you expect to use in combination with your tool specialization.
Your proficiency bonus is now doubled for any ability check you make that uses your proficiency with your tool specialization and with the chosen skill.

Level 9: Specialization's Boon

Your dedication to your artform or craftsmanship causes you to be exceptionally good at channeling magic into the items you create. You think up blueprints in your dreams, and working at your art feel like dreaming.

At all times, you may possess one Magic Item Plan of a higher tier than your current qualification would allow for, as long as that Magic Item Plan would logically use your tool specialization to create the associated item.

Example: An 11th level Cobbler Artificer may possess one Magic Item Plan from among shoes found on the Artificer Level 14+ tier item plan.

Level 15: Artisanal Mastery

You've touched mastery of your artform or craftsmanship. From now on, your creations will leave tales of awe and woe in their trails. You wonder how long you will be remembered after you are gone, and by which of your creations.

You gain an additional tier of Magic Item Plans you can learn: Artificer Level 18+. This tier includes any Very Rare Wondrous Item that isn’t cursed. Each Magic Item Plan of this tier must select a different item.

You gain full access to this tier at 18th level. Until then, Specialization's Boon will allow you to possess one Magic Item Plan from this new tier. From 18th level onward, Specialization's Boon instead grants you a single Magic Item Plan of a Legendary item, as long as that Magic Item Plan would logically use your tool specialization to create the associated item. An item created using this Magic Item Plan does not vanish upon death.
