Base Class: Ranger
"In this gory war, the devil approached me one day to suggest a deal."
"It promised to give me a gun that can blow up anything, but the catch was that its last shell would land on the head of my beloved."
"My beloved, huh… Did I ever have people I held that dearly? I couldn't be sure anymore."
"I had to have joined this war for someone I loved, that much I remember."
Bound by an infernal contract, you wield a rifle that conjures its own ammunition and delivers impossible shots. Every pull of the trigger tears away another fragment of yourself, leaving behind only instinct, obsession, and fire.
Scattering Bullets - Level 3
"There is neither; no fragments of memories, no need to look into them… fire, only fire!"
Fell Rifle
When you take this subclass at level 3, you gain a special Martial Ranged Weapon (firearm):
Fell Rifle.
Two Handed, range 50/150 feet, 1 Target, 2d8 Piercing.
If you are Hidden or Prone, the range changes to 100/600 Feet and the damage increases to 2d12 Piercing.
This weapon does not require ammo, with the Devil's Contract causing the weapon to create a bullet when the weapon is cycled while empty.
You also gain Proficiency in Firearms when you take this subclass.
Stigmatize
Your Ire burns with imperceptible fire. While you have a creature under the effect of Hunter's Mark, you have Advantage with attacks against that creature using your Fell Rifle, but Disadvantage on attacking creatures with your Fell Rifle that are not under the effects of Hunter's Mark.
If no creature is under the Effects of Hunter's Mark, you do not have Disadvantage on attacks against unmarked creatures.
If you reduce a creature under the effects of Hunter's Mark to 0 Hit points using your Fell Rifle, you can use your reaction to immediately cast Hunter's Mark targeting another creature within range without expending a spell slot.
Torn Memories
Once on each of your turns, when you hit a creature with your Fell Rifle, you gain 1 Torn Memory stack. If that creature is affected by your Hunter's Mark, you instead gain 2 Torn Memory stacks.
While you have 1 or more Torn Memory stacks, attacks with your Fell Rifle deal additional fire damage equal to the number of Torn Memory stacks you possess.
You can have a maximum of 7 Torn Memory stacks.
When you make an attack with your Fell Rifle while you have 7 Torn Memory stacks, you may expend all 7 stacks. If you do, choose up to 2 additional creatures within your Fell Rifle's range. Make separate attack rolls against those creatures. On a hit, each creature takes an additional 14 fire damage.
Punch Through - Level 7
"Leg it, if you want. My scattering bullets…"
"…will turn your brain into fireworks no matter where you run."
Rapid Repositioning
Once on each turn, when a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can move up to 15 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
Starting at 9th level, after making this movement, you can make one Fell Rifle attack against the triggering creature.
Fire... Only Fire!
You are able to target ally creatures using your Fell Rifle...? Why Would Anyone do this?!
When hitting an ally with your Fell Rifle, Select one creature within your Fell Rifle's Range, that creature takes damage equal to the damage you dealt to the ally creature, as well as 2x your Torn Memory Stacks in fire damage.
If you reduce an ally to 0 hit points with your Fell Rifle, target up to 6 other creatures within your Fell Rifle's Range, on a hit, deal bonus Fire damage equal 3x your Torn Memory Stacks, plus 3x your Ranger Level.
- For summoned creatures, this only applies to creatures you summoned using a magic item or spell slot.
- This feature does not trigger against creatures with less than 20 max hit points.
Shatter-Shell Bullet
When you reduce a creature affected by your Hunter's Mark to 0 hit points with your Fell Rifle, All creatures you choose within 15 feet of the defeated creature must make a Dexterity Saving throw against your Spell Save DC, on a failure, the creature takes the same damage the defeated creature took (including torn memory bonus damage). On a success, the creature takes half damage.
To pierce and scatter - Level 11
"Obsidian shards of blood shatter with echoes of glass; the perforating bullet scatters to a thousand pellets to bore into them all."
"Thus worthy has it become, the sacrifice of my comrades… no, I can scarcely recall if they were comrades of mine at all!"
Only Tatters Remain...
When you gain your first Torn Memory stack after having none, choose Focused Memories (the normal Torn Memories feature) or Fractured Memories. The choice lasts until your Torn Memory stacks return to 0.
Fractured Memories:
When Landing an attack with your Fell Rifle, the attack deals additional fire damage equal to twice your current Torn Memory stacks, and at 7 stacks, you may expend all 7 stacks. If you do, choose up to 2 additional creatures within your Fell Rifle's range. Make separate attack rolls against those creatures. On a hit, each creature takes an additional 20 fire damage.
However, before each attack using your Fell Rifle, Roll a D10, if the Roll is equal to or lower than your Torn Memory stacks, Roll a D6, the result of the roll determines what effect occurs:
1-2; The attack targets the Nearest Creature, other than yourself.
3-4; The attack targets a Random Creature within Range.
5; The Attack Targets the Original Target.
6; The attack instead targets the farthest creature within your Fell Rifle's range. Draw a straight line from you to that creature. Each creature whose space the line passes through is also hit by the attack, taking half the attack's damage (excluding bonus damage from Torn Memories).
If the original target was under the Effects of Hunter's Mark, roll a D12 instead
Starting at level 13, if the original target was under the effects of Hunter's Mark, roll a D20 instead.
See Through Defenses
While at 3 or more Torn Memory stacks, your Attacks with Fell Rifle ignore half cover and three-quarters cover, as well as ignore AC Increases from Shields.
Starting at level 17, Your Fell Rifle attacks also ignore spells like 'Shield' and 'Shield of Faith' while at 3 or more Torn Memory Stacks.
Hunter and Prey - Level 15
"I shall feel the ponderous mass of the gun barrel rest upon my viscera."
"Let this accursed bullet pierce through them…!"
Fell Bullet
Your Fell Rifle's Base damage increases to 2d10 Piercing, and is considered magical for the purposes of bypassing resistances and Immunities.
When you make an attack with your Fell Rifle while Hidden or Prone, the weapon's damage becomes 3d12 + 1d6 piercing instead of its normal damage.
Your Fell Rifle gains an extended crit range (19-20), if the target is under the effects of Hunter's Mark, Fell Rifle's Crit range is increases to 18-20.
On a Critical Hit against a creature under the effects of Hunter's Mark, your 'Shatter-Shell Bullet' feature is triggered, even if the target isn't reduced to 0 hit points.
Hunter's Mark no longer requires concentration, and does not require a spell slot to cast.
Marksman in the Mist
When your 'Rapid Repositioning' feature is triggered, you can choose to teleport to an unoccupied space within 45 feet of you instead of move 15 feet away. You can still make an attack using Fell Rifle after triggering this feature.
When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.
You can see normally through lightly and heavily obscured areas. In addition, attacks you make with your Fell Rifle are not made with disadvantage solely because your target is lightly or heavily obscured.
If you do not know the spell 'Fog Cloud', you learn it when you gain this feature, and it does not count against your known spells.
Fading Recollections
You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened, as your fading memories leave you difficult to manipulate through emotion. However, you can no longer perfectly recall the faces or voices of people you have not seen since your last long rest unless you make a conscious effort to do so.
