Base Class: Wizard
Inquisitive mage, your curiosity for the esoteric and forgotten has gotten the better of you. The rot has been invited and it shall seep into everyone of your machinations from here on out arcanist. Let your path be abundant new kin.
You have the power to control the ebb and flow of combat on a microscopic level. Your unintentional study unlocked a new obsession with the repugnant, disavowed, and untouchable facets of life and death. Those touched by the Rot travel far and wide taking on a multitude of professions all in the aim of perfecting their viral specialization. From local healer to biological terrorist, the Rot can guide any and all who seek, unintentionally or not, greater, more unknown arcane ability than what they already have.
Level 3: Putrid Spellcasting
Choose two spells from the Necromancy and/or Evocation schools, each of which must be no higher than level 2, and add them to your spellbook for free.In addition, whenever you gain access to a new level of spell slots in this class, you can add one Wizard spell from the Necromancy and/or Evocation school to your spellbook for free. The chosen spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Level 3: Epicure of Pestilence
After casting a Wizard spell that deals necrotic, poison, or acid damage to a hostile creature you can choose one of the below options:
- You may give any non-hostile creature within 30ft of you temporary hit points equal to 1d6 + the spell's level. If the target of the spell is already afflicted, the non-hostile target gains an additional amount of temporary hit points equal to the caster's wizard level.
- Whenever a creature becomes afflicted the creature takes 1d6 + INT modifier necrotic, poison, or acid damage and is afflicted for one minute. If the target of the spell is already afflicted, they take an additional 1d6 necrotic, poison, or acid damage.
You may use this feature an amount of times equal to your intelligence modifier before a long rest.
At level 10 increase the dice for the feature to a d8.
Level 6: Caustic Communion
At level 6 you gain the following benefits:
- Afflicted creatures now spread their blessing to other creatures. If a hostile creature end its turn within 5ft of an afflicted creature, they must succeed on a CON save against the caster's spell save DC otherwise become afflicted.
- Any wizard spell that triggers Epicure of Pestilence has a chance to spread affliction. Any hostile creature within 10ft of the creature afflicted by the wizard spell must succeed on a CON against the caster's spell save DC otherwise become afflicted.
Level 10: Greater Affliction
Your connection to the Rot has galvanized and you can harness greater devastation through your spread of affliction. At level 10 you gain the following benefits:
- Afflicted creatures reduce their movement by 10ft and suffer 1d8 necrotic damage at the beginning of their turn.
- The spread range of Caustic Communion is increased by 5ft for each effect.
- If a creature is immune to acid, necrotic, or poison, they can still be afflicted if hit by a Wizard spell, however they have advantage on the saving throw against becoming afflicted.
Level 14: Carrier of the Gift
As a bonus action, you can afflict one hostile creature of your choice within 60ft of you, the target of the feature has disadvantage on the CON save.
