Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who take this Oath dedicate their lives to preserving the natural order of life and death and holding the right of passing on as sacred. Smiting down those who would cheat or outright defy passage into the realm of Hades. They show mercy to those whose time has not yet come to pass. Their oath ties them deeply with Thanatos’ will to end suffering and those who cause it.

Death’s Door

You scrutinize creatures around you, seeking those who are close to death to mark for crossing.

As a bonus action you can expend a use of your Channel Divinity, Bloodied creatures and Undead within 60 feet of you are revealed to you for 1 minute and marked with a blue mote of light above them.

While marked in this way, your attacks against marked creatures can never have disadvantage and whenever you deal damage to a marked target they take bonus damage equal to your Charisma modifier.

Aura of Inevitability

Your aura carries the weight of the ending that comes for all. Those who seek to defy or avoid that end are met with prejudice.

While inside your Aura of Protection creatures you choose can not be Immune to the Frightened condition.

When you make an attack against a creature within your Aura of Protection you can make the damage the weapon’s normal type or necrotic. In addition, your attacks against undead creatures or creatures marked by your Death’s Door feature can critically strike on a roll of 19 or 20.

Not Their Time

Your heightened sense of awareness around when a creature is meant to pass on manifests itself in sparing those whose time has not yet come.

When a creature you can see within 30 feet takes damage that reduces them to 0 Hit Points without killing them outright, you may use a reaction to heal that creature using your Lay on Hands feature. When used in this way your Lay on Hands has a range of 30 feet.

In addition, creatures of your choice inside your Aura of Protection have advantage on Death saving throws.

Death Becomes Me

Your connection between life and death has deepened to the point of being able to pass judgement on when it is or is not a creature’s time to journey to the other side.

As a Bonus Action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute or until you end them. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest. You can also restore your use of it by expending a level 5 spell slot (no action required).

Your Time is Now - When you critically strike a creature, that creature must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save that creature has Vulnerability to damage you deal until the end of your next turn.

From Whom the Bell Tolls - As a Bonus Action, you may cast Spook on creatures marked by your Death’s Door feature or inside your Aura of Protection. Marked creatures have disadvantage on the save.

Delaying the Inevitable - Necrotic damage you deal restores points to your Lay on Hands pool equal to half the damage dealt rounded down.

Unnerving Presence

Your presence alone carries dread to those who know their time is approaching.

You learn the Spook cantrip. It counts as a Paladin spell for you.
