Base Class: Paladin
The Oath of Love drives a Paladin to protect and care for people dear to them. Paladins who follow this oath might adorn themselves with traditional symbols of love, such as hearts or flowers, but others may choose emblems that are suited to the individuals they watch over. The tenets of the Oath of Love may vary depending on the nature of the chosen bond, but they often share these core ideals: • Love is Unconditional. Care for your loved ones sincerely, without limitation or exception. • Protect their Freedoms. Watch over your loved ones, but let them walk their own path. • Share their Burdens. Help your loved ones through their hardships and support their ambitions. • Love Yourself. Believe you are just as deserving of kindness and care as your loved ones
Level 3: Oath of Love Spells
The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of Devotion Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Sanctuary, Shield of Faith |
| 5 | Calm Emotions, Warding Bond |
| 9 | Remove Curse, Spirit Guardians |
| 13 | Aura of Life, Death Ward |
| 17 | Dispel Evil and Good, Raise Dead |
Level 3: Sacred Weapon
As a Bonus Action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to speak a phrase or perform a gesture that magically transforms you into an avatar of love and protection. This transformation lasts up to 10 minutes, until you are Incapacitated or choose to end it as a Bonus Action. While transformed, you gain these benefits:
• Vision of Heart. Your appearance changes in subtle ways. You can appear shorter, taller, or with a different build or body shape. Your skin, hair and eyes can change colour, and any equipment you are carrying or wearing can gain an illusory appearance, though their properties do not change. You can’t use this ability to appear as a specific person or an entirely different creature, but it can be used to hide your normal identity.
• Mystique. You create a harmless sensory effect around you, such as a shower of rose petals, faint ethereal music, or a pleasant scent, that lasts for the duration of the transformation, which grants you advantage on Charisma ability checks.
• Radiant Beam. When you take the Attack action with a melee weapon, you may choose to make the attack a ranged spell attack instead. The attack has a range of 60 ft and deals Radiant damage instead of its normal type, plus additional damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). You can use any spell, effect or class feature that requires a melee weapon attack with this special ranged spell attack (for example, you could cast Divine Smite as part of it).
Level 7: Aura of Love
While in your Aura of Protection, you and your allies gain a bonus to any Temporary Hit Points or restored Hit Points you receive equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) and reduce any damage taken by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
Level 15: Shield of Ardour
When an ally is hit by an attack or fails a saving throw, you can use your Reaction to teleport up to 60 ft to an unoccupied space within 5 ft of them and make yourself the target of the triggering effect instead. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) and regain all uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Level 20: Heart's Halation
As a Bonus Action, you can surround yourself and a target within 30 ft of you with colourful radiant energy. Both you and your chosen target receive the below benefits for 10 minutes, until one of you becomes Incapacitated or until you dismiss the radiant energy (no action required):
• Unstoppable. You both gain Resistance to all damage.
• Unwavering. You both gain Immunity to the Charmed and Frightened conditions.
• Unconditional. When one of you casts a spell with a range of Self, you can choose to have it affect the other person surrounded by the radiant energy as well. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest or expend a spell slot of Level 5 or higher to replenish it (no action required)
