Base Class: Barbarian

DEPRECATED — do not use. This subclass has been superseded by Path of the Primal Urge, its refined replacement. This entry is kept only because D&D Beyond does not allow deleting published community homebrew; the mechanics below are no longer supported or maintained.

Level 3: Blood-starved Rage

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you hunger for battle. You dream about the smell of blood, the sounds of screaming and bones breaking, the visceral feeling of your muscles burning, and the rush of adrenaline that comes from killing. Every time you take damage outside of rage, you gain 1d4 stacks of 'Bloodlust', plus an additional 1d4 for every 10 points of damage you take from a single source (ex: gain 4d4 from receiving 30 damage). You have a maximum of 15 Bloodlust stacks total that increase by 5 each time you level up. Bloodlust only lasts for the combat encounter it is acquired in.

When you go into a rage, you consume all stacks of Bloodlust and you gain abilities based on the amount of stacks consumed. The benefits are :

5 stacks: Your first successful melee attack against a target deals an additional 1d6 of the corresponding damage.

10 Stacks: You gain +2 AC for the duration of your rage.

15 Stacks: You gain 20 additional movement speed and now ignore the effects of difficult terrain.

20 Stacks: Your second successful melee attack against a target deals an additional 1d6 of the corresponding damage.

25 Stacks: When you enter your rage, you let out a ferocious roar. Hostile creatures within 15 feet of you must make a Wisdom save (DC = 8 + Proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or become frightened of you for 10 minutes. Allied creatures are left unsettled, but will not be entirely afraid of you.

30 Stacks: Your first successful melee attack against a creature reduces their Armor Class by 1d4 until the end of your next turn.

Cut Of Hate

Your first successful melee attack against a creature reduces their AC by 1d4 until the end of your next turn.

Stab At Thee

Your second successful melee attack against a target deals an additional 1d6 of the corresponding damage.

Wretched Howl

When you enter your rage, you let out a ferocious roar. Hostile creatures within 15 feet of you must make a Wisdom save (DC = 8 + Proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or become frightened of you for 10 minutes. Allied creatures are left unsettled, but will not be entirely afraid of you.

Butchers Intent

Beginning at 6th level, your deep desire for violence drives your physical prowess even when you hold back your rage. Whenever you deal melee damage to a creature outside of rage, you gain 1d4 stacks of Bloodlust. Whenever you land a critical hit outside of rage, you gain 5 Bloodlust stacks.

While outside of rage, your melee attacks now deal 2 additional points of force damage for every 10 stacks of Bloodlust you have.

Mind of Slaughter

At 10th level, Your all-consuming thoughts of violence numb you to pain when you are constantly holding back your rage, you exist on a razor's edge between maintaining your humanity and creating a massacre. You now passively gain Bloodlust stacks. At the start of each of your turns outside of rage, you gain 1d4 stacks of Bloodlust, and Whenever you take damage outside of rage, reduce the damage by 1 point for every 10 stacks of Bloodlust you have.

Beast Of War

At 14th level, your violent exploits have become the stuff of legends. Tales of a "screaming beast, bathed in the blood of its enemies" have spread like wildfire across the lands. You have become the terrifying monster that parents use to scare their children into good behavior. You no longer lose bloodlust stacks when you engage in combat or other wise.

Effects that would grant you stacks of Bloodlust outside of rage, now grant you stacks at all times, even while in a rage.

And a new maximum of 50 stacks of Bloodlust, as well as two new features as a result of your higher Bloodlust threshold. You gain the following abilities:

40 Stacks: Whenever you deal damage, you restore hit points equal to half the damage dealt, rounded up.

50 Stacks: All of your attack rolls gain a +3 bonus to hit. Whenever you land a critical hit, the target takes an additional 25 force damage and is smashed prone into the ground

Blood Fuelled

All of your attack rolls gain a +3 bonus to hit. Whenever you land a critical hit, the target takes an additional 25 force damage and is smashed prone into the ground.

Crimson siphon
