Base Class: Paladin

Tenets of the Unbroken

1. Endure the Storm

Pain is not a chain. Suffering is not defeat. I rise because I must — and because others cannot if I do not.

2. Break the Chains

Where there is oppression, I will stand. Where there is control, I will resist. Where there is enslavement, I will free.

3. Carry the Truth

I will not hide what was done to me. My scars are my witness. My story is my weapon.

4. Protect the Lost

Those who wander without hope are mine to shelter. Those who suffer in silence are mine to hear. Those who fear the storm will learn it can be a shield.

5. Never Bow Again

No crown, no prince, no tyrant will command my hand. My will is my oath. My freedom is sacred.

Level 3: Oath of the Unbroken Spells

The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of Vengeance Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Oath of Vengeance Spells
Paladin Level Spells
3 Shield, Sanctuary
5 Calm Emotions, Lesser Restoration
9 Remove Curse, Protection from Energy
13 Freedom of Movement, Death Ward
17 Greater Restoration, Hold Monster

Level 3: Unbroken Stand

You can use your Channel Divinity to invoke the strength of the Unbroken. As an action, you present your holy symbol and call upon your vow of endurance. For 1 minute, you cannot be charmed, frightened, or restrained. Friendly creatures within 10 feet of you gain advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, restrained, or dominated.

Level 7: Aura of Momentum

Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you gain increased mobility. Any ally that begins its turn within this aura gains an additional 5 feet of movement until the end of that turn.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Level 3: Channel Divinity: Break the Chains

You can use your Channel Divinity to shatter the bonds of control. As an action, you end one effect on yourself or a willing creature you can see that is causing charm, fear, paralysis, restraint, domination, or possession.

Level 15: Unbroken Reprisal

Starting at 15th level, your resolve lashes out when you or your allies are threatened. When a creature within 10 feet of you forces you or an ally to make a saving throw against being charmed, frightened, restrained, or dominated, you can use your reaction to make one melee weapon attack against that creature. If the attack hits, the creature has disadvantage on the triggering saving throw.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Level 20: Unbroken Ascendant

At 20th level, you can assume the form of the Unbroken Storm, embodying absolute freedom and resolve. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You cannot be charmed, frightened, paralyzed, or restrained.

  • You reduce all damage you take by 10.

  • When a friendly creature within 30 feet of you fails a saving throw against charm, fear, domination, or restraint, you can use your reaction to cause that creature to succeed instead.

  • Your movement speed increases by 10 feet, and you ignore difficult terrain.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
