Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Your patron is a being that dwells in the space between life and death, where shadows linger after the body has fallen. It does not grant you an army at your command. Instead, it gives you something far more personal: a single shadow bound to your soul.

Through your pact, you have learned to manipulate living darkness, drawing strength from the shadows of the fallen and shaping them into temporary servants. At the heart of your power stands your Shadow Knight, a spectral warrior bound to protect you. As your own power grows, so too does the strength of the knight.

Your patron does not ask you to rule the dead.

It asks you to become strong enough that death itself cannot take what belongs to you.

Expanded Spell List

The Hexblade lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Hexblade Expanded Spells

Shadowbound

Your patron gives form to a fragment of living darkness, creating a shadow warrior bound to your soul.

This warrior is your Shadow Knight, a permanent companion that serves as your bodyguard and grows stronger as you do.

The Shadow Knight appears beside you after you finish a Long Rest. If it is destroyed, its body dissolves into black mist and reforms beside you when you finish your next Long Rest.

The Shadow Knight acts immediately after your turn. It can move and take the Dodge action without requiring your command. If you don't cast a spell of 1st level or higher during your turn, the Shadow Knight can make one Shadow Blade attack on its turn.

Your Shadow Knight uses the following statistics:

Shadow Knight

Medium Undead

Armor Class: 13 + your Proficiency Bonus
Hit Points: 5 + five times your Warlock level
Speed: 30 feet

STR 16 (+3)
DEX 14 (+2)
CON 14 (+2)
INT 8 (-1)
WIS 12 (+1)
CHA 8 (-1)

Shadow Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: your Proficiency Bonus + your Charisma modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Charisma modifier slashing damage.

The Shadow Knight understands the languages you know but can't speak.

The Shadow Knight disappears if you die.

Growing Shadow

Your Shadow Knight is not a normal summoned creature. It is bound to you and develops alongside your character.

Whenever your Proficiency Bonus increases, the Shadow Knight's abilities increase as well.

At the DM's discretion, its appearance, weapons, armor, and fighting style can change as your bond develops.

Shadow Stride

While you are in Dim Light or Darkness, you can use a Bonus Action to teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 30 feet that is also in Dim Light or Darkness.

After teleporting, you have Advantage on the next melee attack you make before the end of your turn.

You can use this feature twice, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Shadow Extraction

When a Small or Medium creature dies within 30 feet of you, you can use your Reaction to capture a fragment of its shadow.

You can maintain a number of captured shadows equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).

As a Bonus Action, you can expend one captured shadow to summon a Shadow Soldier in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of you. The Shadow Soldier lasts for 1 minute, until it drops to 0 Hit Points, or until you dismiss it as a Bonus Action.

You can have a maximum of two Shadow Soldiers summoned at one time.

The Shadow Soldier acts immediately after your turn. It can move and take the Dodge action on its own. You must use a Bonus Action on your turn to command a Shadow Soldier to make its attack.

Shadow Soldier

Medium Undead
Armor Class: 12 + your Proficiency Bonus
Hit Points: 1d8 + your Warlock level
Speed: 30 ft.

Shadow Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: your spell attack modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d6 + your Proficiency Bonus necrotic damage.

The Shadow Soldier understands the languages you speak but cannot speak.

Shadow Exchange

While you are in Dim Light or Darkness, you can use a Bonus Action to teleport to an unoccupied space within 60 feet of your Shadow Knight, provided you can see that space. Your Shadow Knight appears in the space you occupied.

After using this feature, your Shadow Knight cannot make attacks until the beginning of your next turn.

You can use Shadow Exchange once, and you regain its use when you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Improved Shadowbound

Monarch's Protection

Your Shadow Knight instinctively protects you from danger.

When you take damage while your Shadow Knight is within 5 feet of you, you can use your Reaction to command it to intercept the attack.

Reduce the damage you take by 1d10 + your Charisma modifier + your Proficiency Bonus. Your Shadow Knight takes the remaining damage instead.

If this reduces your Shadow Knight to 0 Hit Points, it collapses into shadow. It reforms with 1 Hit Point at the end of your next turn.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Shadow Recovery

When you finish a Short or Long Rest, your Shadow Knight regains all of its Hit Points.

If your Shadow Knight has been destroyed, you can expend one Hit Die during a Short Rest to restore it with Hit Points equal to the number rolled.

Sovereign's Domain

As an Action, you create a 30-foot-radius sphere of supernatural darkness centered on yourself. The sphere lasts for 1 minute or until you lose Concentration, as if concentrating on a spell.

You can see normally within the sphere.

While you are inside your Sovereign's Domain:

Shadow Power. Once on each of your turns, when you deal damage to a creature, you deal an additional 1d8 necrotic damage.

Shadow Knight. Your Shadow Knight gains a 10-foot increase to its Speed and deals an additional 1d8 necrotic damage with its Shadow Blade.

Shadow Soldiers. You can have up to three Shadow Soldiers summoned at the same time.

Darkness Walker. You and your Shadow Knight have Advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks while inside the Domain.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
