Base Class: Rogue
Somewhere down the line you've come into contact with a being from Shadowfell. It left a mark on you that is spreading over your body.
The mark sharpened your senses and grants you abilities, that help you hunt down your prey.
Those afflicted by this mark encounter death regularly and have become accustomed to it. As a result their empathy towards the suffering of other beings has diminished.
Felltouched Features

|---|---|
| 3rd | Shadowsight |
| 3rd | Shadow Blade |
| 9th | Umbral Step, Shadow Blade improvement |
| 13th | Emit Darkness, Shadow Blade improvement |
| 17th | From the Depths, Shadow Blade improvement |
Shadowsight
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, your mark grows, tinting the skin around your eyes black.
The mark grants you darkvision up to a range of 60 feet.
If you already posess darkvision, its range increases by 60 feet. This feature can not increase darkvision past 150 feet.
Shadow Blade
Starting at 3rd level, you can make a shadow blade appear at will.
It deals 1d8 psychic damage on a hit and has the finesse, light, and thrown properties (range 20/60). In addition, when you use the blade to attack a target that is in dim light or darkness, you make the attack roll with advantage.
You have one charge. Multiple charges may be used as a bonus action to increase shadow blades damage by 1d8 per charge for 1 minute.
All charges replenish during a long rest.
If you drop the weapon or throw it, it dissipates at the end of your turn.
Any item held in a hand that shadow blade appears in is dropped.
You gain addtional charges at levels 9, 13 and 17, up to a maximum of 4 charges.
Dexterity
Your Shadow Blade gains its to hit and damage bonus from dexterity.
Stength
Your Shadow Blade gains its to hit and damage bonus from strength.
Umbral Step
At 9th level the darkness spreads to your limbs, tinting the skin along your veins black.
Your advanced transformation enables you to use a bonus action to teleport through the shadows cast by creatures that you can see within 120 feet.
The space, on which the shadow is cast, has to be unoccupied.
If a creature, that you can see within 120 feet, is in darkness, you may teleport to a free space within 5 feet of that creature.
Emit Darkness
At 13th level you become more accustomed to the darkness caused by the mark. You become able to emit darkness around you. Emitting darkness reduces the visible effects that the mark has on you.
As an action, you can create an area of darkness centered on you that covers an area of 30 feet and lingers for 2 Minutes. If this effect is created in an already dark area, creatures with darkvision other than you can't see through it.
Light, other than daylight, is not able to illuminate the area.
You are able to use your umbral step at any target that is located within this darkness, even if you can not see it.
Once you've used this feature, you can't use it again until you have finished a short rest.
From the Depths
At 17th level the darkness inside you has become semi-concious. As a bonus action you can choose to release the darkness lurking inside you. When you do this, the visible effects the mark causes on your body increase.
For the next minute your body will emit shadowy smoke, in an area of 15 feet centered on you, which dims light. The smoke appears monstrous to any observer.
In this area, you can see, as if it was illuminated. Light sources can not illuminate this area or dispell the effect.
During this effect, you can make two shadow blades appear.
If you have any expended charges for shadow blade you will regain half of them (rounded up). Empowering your shadow blade will affect both blades.
As part of this bonus action, you may choose to use charges to empower your shadow blade(s).
You wont be able to maintain a second shadow blade after the effect runs out. You can choose which shadow blade vanishes.
You can use this feature once per long rest.

Posted Nov 6, 2019Please find a summarized at the end Changelog below.
The first attempt at this subclass felt a bit too powerful. To improve balance and give more gravity to the decision of when you want to use your powerboost, I've changed the recharge of Shadow Blade charges to long rest. In return, creating a field of darkness is now on short rest, to allow more control over getting advantage on your attack.
The way From the Depths worked was changed, as the additional survivability seemed wrong, especially paired with the potential burst of damage that becomes available.
Other than that I just wanted to improve on the information given about the abilities as well as some quality changes to make it easier to find the information you need for your abilities.
Changelog
Major Changes
- Shadow Blade: changed recharge from short to long rest
- Shadow Blade: Implemented option to choose between dex or str for the blade
- Emit Darkness: changed recharge from long rest to short rest
- Emit Darkness: Now only blocks other darkvision users when created in a previously dark area.
- From the Depths: Removed the effect and trigger that causes you to not take damage past 0 hp and regaining half health once per long rest
- From the Depths: Added Bonus Action to activate this ability
- From the Depths: Added option to use charges when the bonus action to activate from the depths is used
Minor Changes
- Fixed mouseover tooltips
- Made snippits more descriptive in terms on what the effects are and removed flavor from snippits
- Shadow Blade: Added Strength/Dexterity options since finesse isn't an option for the action itself
- Shadow Blade: Changed the description of charges to make it clear that you can use multiple of them in one bonus action
- Reworked several snippits and descriptions to better define how the relating abilities work
