Base Class: Monk
Way of the Shadow Soul is granted the following abilities:
3rd lvl: Shadow Bolt, Shadow Walk
6th lvl: Shadow Strike
11th lvl: Withering Shadow, Shadow Phase
17th lvl: Shadow Palm
Shadow Bolt
Starting at 3rd level, you can hurl chilling bolts of magical darkness. You gain a new attack option that you can use with the Attack action. This special attack is a ranged spell attack with a range of 30 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Dexterity modifier to its attack and damage rolls. Its damage is necrotic, and the Martial Arts die is used for its damage. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table. When you take the Attack action on your turn and use this special attack as part of it, you can spend 1 ki point to make the special attack twice as a bonus action. When you gain the Extra Attack feature, this special attack can be used for any of the attacks you make as part of the Attack action.
Shadow Walk
Also starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to step from one shadow into another. When you are in dim light or darkness, as a bonus action, you can magically teleport up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also in dim light or darkness.
Shadow Strike
At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel your ki into necrotic waves of energy. Immediately after you take the Attack action on your turn, you can spend 2 ki points to cast the Chill Touch spell as a bonus action. Channeling the chill of the grave, make a unarmed strike against a target within reach. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 Necrotic damage, and it can’t regain Hit Points until the end of your next turn.
You can spend additional ki points to cast Chill Touch as a higher-level spell. Each additional ki point you spend increases the spell’s level by 1. The maximum number of ki points (2 plus any additional points) that you can spend on the spell equals half your monk level.
Withering Shadow
At 11th level, you gain the ability to send ribbons of negative energy at one creature you can see within range. Unless the target is undead, it must make a Constitution saving throw (DC equals 8 + your Proficiency bonus + your Spell casting modifier), taking 3d12 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
You can spend additional ki points to add additional dice to the damage roll, 2 ki points per dice added.
Shadow Phase
Also at 11th level, you can vanish from your current plane of existence and appear in the Shadow Fell (the spell ends instantly if you are already on that plane). While in the Shadow Fell, you can perceive the plane you left, which is cast in shades of gray, but you can’t see anything there more than 60 feet away. You can affect and be affected only by other creatures in the Shadow Fell, and creatures on the other plane can’t perceive you unless they have a special ability that lets them perceive things in the Shadow Fell.
You return to the other plane at the start of your next turn and when the spell ends if you are in the Shadow Fell. You return to an unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of the space you left. If no unoccupied space is available within that range, you appear in the nearest unoccupied space.
Shadow Palm
At 17th level, you gain the ability to pluck at the darker strings of a targets soul. When you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike, you can expend 4 Ki Points to strum these shadowy strings, which last for a number of days equal to your Monk level. The darker vibrations are harmless unless you take an action to end them. Alternatively, when you take the Attack action on your turn, you can forgo one of the attacks to end these vibrations. To end them, you and the target must be on the same plane of existence. When you end them, the target must make a Constitution saving throw (DC equals 8 + your Proficiency bonus + your Wisdom Modifier), taking 10d12 Necrotic damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. You can have only one creature under the effect of this feature at a time. You can end the vibrations harmlessly (no action required)
