Base Class: Paladin
Paladins who take the Oath of the Mystic Fire are paladins who worship Mystra and are selected by her to receive her divine aid. Paladins who swear this Oath upon selection by Mystra journey across all of Toril, fighting the oppression and enslavement of magic-users and common folk alike, though their journeys sometimes take them beyond the Prime Material plane.
As of 1501 DR Year of the Shining Mythal there are but 360 such Paladins in all of Toril, though prior to the Spellplague they numbered as many as 500. Mystra does not favour any particular species or nation from her worshipers for selection.
Paladins who are selected by Mystra observe the following tenets:
- Visit wrath upon oppressors and liberate the oppressed.
- Ensure the fair distribution of magic items
- Protect those harmed by magic
Level 3: Spellshatter
Once per turn, after making an attack, you can expend a use of your Channel Divinity (no action required) to cast the Dispel Magic spell without expending a spell slot.
Level 3: Oath of the Mystic Fire Spells
Your Oath to Mystra has granted you access to a limited number of arcane spells; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of the Mystic Fire Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | True Strike, Detect Magic, Magic Missile |
| 5 | Misty Step, See Invisibility |
| 9 | Dispel Magic, Leomund's Tiny Hut |
| 13 | Conjure Minor Elementals, Wall of Fire |
| 17 | Hold Monster, Wall of Force |
Level 7: Wielder of the Weave
With Mystra's guidance you have learned to manipulate the weave to control other people's use of the weave. You always have the Counterspell spell prepared. Additionally you may cast it without expending a spell slot a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus.
Level 15: Flame in the Weave
Mystra has seared you with her silver fire, marking you and granting you a tiny mote of her power. When you are reduced to 0 Hit Points and not killed outright, you can drop to 1 Hit Point instead, and you regain a number of Hit Points equal to three times your Paladin level. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest.
Additionally one of the irises of your eye turns metallic silver, rather than its normal colour.
Level 20: Embodiment of the Weave
You become wreathed in silver Mystic Fire. As a Bonus Action, you gain the benefits below for 10 minutes or until you end them (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest. You can also restore your use of it by expending a level 5 spell slot (no action required).
Magical Suppression. Enemies in your Aura of Protection must first pass a Concentration check before casting a spell or using a magical ability (DC equals your spell save DC).
Seared by Fire. Whenever an enemy starts its turn in the aura, that creature takes Radiant damage equal to your Charisma modifier plus your Proficiency Bonus.
Swift Spells. Whenever you cast a spell that has a casting time of an action, you can cast it using a Bonus Action instead.
