Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who are Warriors of the Kensei view their weapons as disciplines to learn and master, as a natural extension of their own body, they study the blade to study the mind. They combine the traditional martial arts with the lethal precision of hardened steel and the grace of refined artists. Through rigorous practice, they shift the boundaries between flesh and metal entirely, becoming one with their weapon.

Level 3: Kensei Mastery

You have dedicated yourself to the absolute mastery of specific arms. You gain the following benefits:

• Kensei Weapons. Your Monk weapons count as Kensei weapons and you gain proficiency in two Martial weapons of your choice. Any weapon proficiencies you gain from this subclass are Monk weapons for you.

• Mastery Properties. Choose two kinds of Kensei weapons. You can use the Mastery properties of those weapons.

• Warrior of the Brush. Your martial training involves artistic craftsmanship. You gain proficiency in one artisan's tool of your choice and you gain Expertise in an artisan's tool.

Whenever you reach Monk levels 6, 11, and 17, you gain proficiency in one additional Martial weapon of your choice, and you can choose one additional kind of Kensei weapon to unlock its Mastery property.

Level 3: Deft Strike

Your training with your weapon makes your strikes even deadlier as you aim for the weak spots your weapon can abuse. When you hit with an attack roll using a Kensei weapon, you can roll your Martial Arts die and add the number rolled to the attack's damage roll.

You can use this feature once per turn, or you can spend 1 Focus Point for each additional use this turn. You can apply Deft Strike only once to an attack. At Monk level 11, you roll an additional Martial Arts die and add it to the attack's damage.

Level 6: Agile Parry

Your martial training included many, many duels, yet a warrior can never let their guard down even while focusing on the enemy in front of them. When a creature you can see targets you with an attack roll while you are holding a Kensei weapon, you can use your Reaction to enter a Parry Stance. Until the start of your next turn, you gain a +2 bonus to your AC, and you gain an additional reaction which you can use only for your Deflect Attacks feature.

Level 11: One with the Blade

The boundary between your flesh and your steel shifts completely. Your kicks slice like axes and your fingers pierce like arrows. Your Unarmed Strikes count as Kensei weapons and can take on the damage type of any Kensei weapon whose Mastery property you have.

Additionally, whenever you hit a attack roll with an Unarmed Strike, you can add one of your Mastery properties to that attack. You can apply each unique Mastery property to your Unarmed Strikes once per turn.

Level 17: Unerring Mastery

You have become a true master over your weapons, blending their fighting styles and attacks seamlessly together into a maelstrom of strikes. When you make an attack roll with a Kensei weapon, you can spend 1 Focus Point to add any Weapon Mastery property you know to that single attack, rather than changing the weapon's inherent mastery property.
