Base Class: Barbarian
Most Barbarians channel their anger into wildly swinging weapons around, those that follow the path of the War Bow turn their anger into pure focus.
These Barbarians are more likely found on mountains piercing through the wind, in dense forests hunting large monsters, or amongst militia groups, often commanding groups of archers or acting as their spearhead to break through enemy forces. One thing is certain, the power in their bow is unmatched for those who can wield it.
Modified Longbow
Starting at 3rd level, at the end of a short or long rest you can turn a Longbow into a Modified Longbow. A Modified Longbow has the stats of a normal longbow with the following changes:
● This weapon uses Strength instead of Dexterity for attack and damage rolls.
● Rage damage applies to damage dealt with this weapon.
● This Weapon can be used to Reckless attack but until the end of your next turn your speed is halved.
● The weapon damage is changed to 1d12.
● (At 9th level) Your Brutal Critical feature applies to this weapon.
You can only have this feature apply to 2 Longbows at a time. If you make an additional Modified Longbow, you can chose which previous Modified Longbow loses this feature.
Some of your features involving the Modified Longbow require your target to make a saving throw to resist the feature's effects. The saving throw DC is calculated as follows:
DC = 8 + Proficiency bonus + Strength or Constitution Modifier
Power Shot
Also at 3rd level, you gain the ability to fire a single arrow with enough force to go through multiple enemies. While using a Modified Longbow, as an action you fire an arrow in an straight line 1ft wide and up to 80ft long, all creatures in that line need to make a dexterity saving throw, on a failed save they take 1d10 Peircing damage + 1d4 Bludgeoning damage per Barbarian level, and half damage on a successful save.
The arrow ignores half cover and stops when it hits an object. The action also applies any additional effects by either the bow or arrow to each creature hit unless it has an area of effect, which can only be used on the last creature or object damaged or a point in the line, e.g.: if 3 creatures are damaged by an explosive arrow piercing through them, it will still explode and do area damage as normal but only where the last creature damaged is or at the point you chose. When it explodes, it does not continue the along the rest of the line.
Further Pull
You've learned to pull the sting of your bow in such a way that closer targets feel the impact of your arrows much harder.
At 6th level damage from your Modified Longbows count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks. Additionally when raging, any creature you hit with an attack from a Modified Longbow or deal damage to with your Power Shot feature within 30ft of you, is dealt an extra 1d8 Force damage, if any of those creatures are large or smaller they are pushed back up to 10ft away from you in a straight line.
Demoralising Roar
Also at 6th level, as a bonus action you can choose a number of creatures equal to your Constitution Modifier (minimum of 1) within 30ft that can see or hear you, they can't take reactions till the beginning of your next turn and have disadvantage on all Charisma and Wisdom skill checks for 1 minute.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus. You get back all expended uses on a short or long rest.
Thrums of War
At 10th level, Whenever you attack with your Modified Longbow or use your Power Shot feature, before any rolls are made, you can force all creatures in a 5ft radius other than you that can hear you to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save they take 2d4 thunder damage and have disadvantage on their next attack roll or saving throw, on a successful save they take half damage.
Additionally, you ignore the disadvantage penalty given by the prone condition when attacking a creature with your Modified Longbow
Balistic Body
Standing firm with such a difficult to wield bow so often, has reinforced your stance to that of a siege weapon.
At 14th level you gain the following benefits:
● You can no longer be forced prone by any means unless you are Incapacitated or unconscious.
● You have advantage on checks and saving throws to resist being Restrained or Moved.
● You deal double damage to objects and structures with your Modified Longbow.
Additionally before you move on your turn, you can choose to set your speed to 0 until the end of your turn, if you do, you may make an additional attack as a bonus action, and all your attacks until the end of your turn deal their damage to every creature of your choice within 5ft of the original target, provided you successfully hit them. (Roll damage for each attack rather than each individual creature. The effects of a special weapon and/or ammo are applied to every creature as if they were hit individually)
