Iaijutsu is the Martial art of drawing a weapon (almost always a Katana) and attacking with it in the same fluid motion. It's masters are feared and respected. Masters harness their Ki energy to strike with blinding speed and devastating power.

When you begin combat, you cannot draw your bonded weapon until you are within melee range of an enemy. As a free action on each of your turns, when you attack, you immediately sheath your weapon after you attack and ready yourself for your next attack.

Weapon Finesse

At 3rd level, an Iaijutsu master may use their Dexterity modifier instead of their Strength modifier on attack rolls with their Bonded Weapon. Their Bonded Weapon is consider to have the finesse property as well.

Weapon Bond

At 3rd level, you learn a ritual that creates a magical bond between yourself and one weapon. It has to be a weapon that is one-handed or versatile. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. The weapon must be within your reach throughout the ritual, at the conclusion of which you touch the weapon and forge the bond.

Once you have bonded a weapon to yourself, you can’t be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated. If it is on the same plane of existence, you can summon that weapon as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand.

Parting Wave

Starting at 5th level, you can use your reaction to deflect a missile when you are hit by a ranged weapon attack. When you do so, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your fighter level.

Lightning Blade

An Iaijutsu master of 7th level can add their Wisdom Modifier to their initiative rolls as well as their attack rolls.

Strike With No Thought

When you start combat within Melee range of an enemy, you gain a free surprise attack before combat starts, even if the enemy is aware of you.

Death Is Like the Wind

When you critically succeed an attack roll, your next attack roll is guaranteed to hit unless it critically fails, which will be treated as a normal fail

Mighty Long Fall

Starting at 18th level, you become a master of instant death. When you attack and hit a creature that is surprised, it must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your Dexterity modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, double the damage of your attack against the creature. On a critical fail, that enemy is killed instantly.
