Base Class: Paladin
The Oath of the Moon values truth, equality, and transparency. These paladins view themselves as reflections of the more brazen Oath of Devotion, just as the moon reflects the sun in the night. As a result, those that take this Oath may operate in obscurity until the moment is right, shining their holy light on what lurks in the shadows for all to see.
Level 3: Channel divinity
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Detect Illusion. You can use your Channel Divinity using an action to magically detect any illusions or shapechangers within 120 feet of you. You learn the nature of any illusions within that radius and its general direction, although not its exact location or visual description. For instance, you may learn that an illusion is disguising a hidden entrance or altering a creature’s appearance, but not that the illusion is of a brick wall or red dragonborn.
Lunar Smite. You can use your Channel Divinity as a bonus action to call down a holy column of cool moonlight from above you. Hostile creatures within 10 feet of you must make a Charisma saving throw. A creature takes 1d8 radiant damage for every two levels you have in this class on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Any invisible creatures or objects within the area are then outlined with a soft white glow for 1 minute and can’t benefit from being invisible. Alternatively, you can choose to center this effect on the same point of a moonbeam spell you cast, transforming the area into a 10-foot radius column that’s 40 feet tall. At 18th level, the radius of this effect increases to 30 feet.
Aura of the Moon
Aura of the Moon
Starting at 7th level, the light of the moon always shines on you in an aura that extends from you in a 10-foot radius. You have blindsight within this area. Furthermore, you take half as much damage from the moonbeam spell, and you can use a bonus action to move its column of light on each of your turns for the duration of the spell, instead of an action.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Holy Discernment
Holy Discernment
Starting at 15th level, invisible creatures gain no benefit on attack rolls against you, and you have advantage on saving throws against illusion spells. Furthermore, you can add your Charisma modifier to any check you make to discern an illusion or determine if a creature is lying.
Avatar of the Moon
Avatar of the Moon
At 20th level, you can transform into a shimmering avatar of the moon using a bonus action. You emit bright moonlight within your Aura of the Moon and dim light for an additional 30 feet. You also gain the following benefits:
You gain truesight out to a range of 30 feet.
Any illusion within your Aura of the Moon is dispelled if it was created by a spell of 3rd level or lower. You can choose to not dispel an illusion you know of in the area.
Friendly creatures can’t become charmed or possessed while within your Aura of the Moon.
You and friendly creatures of your choice take no damage from any moonbeam spell you cast, and the spell does not require you to concentrate on it. If you don’t already have a moonbeam spell active, you can cast it using a spell slot as part of the bonus action to enter this form.
This effect ends early if you fall unconscious or die. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
