Monk
Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of Velocity view their bodies not just as vessels for spiritual energy, but as self-contained physics engines. By manipulating the friction of the air and the weight of their own mass, these speedsters turn simple velocity into a devastating physical force. Where other monks find peace in still meditation. Those of Velocity find pleasure in speed and acceleration.

Level 3: Velocity Charge

You have learned to convert raw, linear distance directly into raw combat power. As you sprint across the battlefield, you gather ambient friction and inertia, trapping the explosive energy in your fists or weapon.

Kinetic Charges: Whenever you move 5 feet in a continuous straight line on your turn, you gain 1 Velocity Charge. If you change direction or turn, you stop gaining charges from that movement until you begin moving in a new straight line. Your maximum number of charges at any time equals your Monk level. All charges vanish instantly at the end of your turn as the built-up energy safely dissipates.

Discharge: Once per turn, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike or a monk weapon, you can expend your charges to unleash a kinetic burst. The attack deals an extra 1d4 Force damage plus your strength modifier for every charge spent, accompanied by a sharp crack of displaced air.

Level 6: Quick Steps

Your mastery over momentum allows you to effortlessly transfer the weight of your speed into your enemies, or slip past their defenses like grease on a hot pan without losing a single ounce of your speed.
Distance Displacement: When you hit a creature with an attack, you can choose to transfer your momentum. If you moved at least 10 feet in a straight line immediately before the attack, you can push the target 5 feet away from you, plus an additional 5 feet for every 10 feet moved in that straight line (up to a maximum push equal to your walking speed).
Friction-less Pivot: Moving within an enemy's reach does not trigger opportunity attacks. Additionally, once per turn while moving in a straight line, you can spend 5 feet of movement to slide laterally around a creature into an adjacent space. This 5-foot shift does not break your current straight line or reset your Velocity Charge count, allowing you to bypass a foe and continue charging forward seamlessly.

Level 11: Velocity Shield

You move so quickly that the world struggles to keep track of your position. The air around you compresses into a protective cushion, and your sheer speed leaves your enemies striking at lingering afterimages.

Speed Armor: When you take the Dash action or use Step of the Wind, your rapid movement blurs your physical position. For every 20 feet you travel in a straight line during your turn, you gain a +1 bonus to your AC against opportunity attacks until the end of your turn (maximum +4).

Rolling Start: Your body retains a constant, restless hum of kinetic potential. If you ended your previous turn having moved at least 30 feet in a straight line, you start your next turn with 2 Kinetic Charges already stored and ready to deploy.

Level 17: Perpetual Motion

You have achieved total kinetic efficiency, transforming your body into a perpetual motion machine. Your speed shatters the sound barrier, and every impact creates a cascading reaction that feeds back into your legs.

Engine Overdrive: Your kinetic conversion reaches peak efficiency. The extra damage from your Kinetic Build-Up increases to 2d4 Force damage for every single charge spent (instead of 1d4).

Kinetic Cascade: Once per turn, when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points or score a critical hit, the explosive impact propels you forward. You instantly regain 15 feet of movement speed for this turn, and you gain 2 Velocity Charges as your engine surges with recycled power.
