Base Class: Wizard
Among wizards, the Order of Scribes is the most bookish. It was believed that the order was lost to time as the order of the scribe vanished from sight. Arcane Archeologists began to uncover several illegible scrolls and historical documents of the order recently. Since their knowledge has begun to be found, an order of followers has begun to emerge. These Followers of the scribes have found different abilities from the order of yore.
Magical Savant
Choose two Wizard spells from any school of magic, each of which must be no higher than level 2, and add them to your spellbook for free.
In addition, whenever you gain access to a new level of spell slots in this class, you can add one Wizard spell from any school of magic for free. The chosen spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Level 3: Awakened Spellbook
Using the special inks and incantations passed down by your wizardly order, you have awakened an arcane sentience within you spellbook.
At 3rd level, while you are holding the book, it grants you the following benefits:
- - You can use the book as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells.
- When you cast a wizard spell with a spell slot, you can temporarily replace its damage type with a type that appears in another spell at the same level in your spellbook, which magically alters the spell's formula for this casting only.
If necessary, you can replace the book over the course of a long rest by using your wizardly quill to write arcane sigils in a blank book, or a magical spellbook to which you're attuned. If the previous book still existed somewhere, all the spells vanish from its pages.
Level 6: Arcane Mind
At 6th level, you can conjure forth the mind of your collected arcane knowledge. As a bonus action while the book is on your person, you can cause the mind to manifest as a Tiny spectral object, hovering in an unoccupied space of your choice within 60 feet of you. The arcane mind is intangible and doesn't occupy its space, and it sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius. It looks like a ghostly tome, or a cascade of text (your choice).
While manifested, the arcane mind can hear and see, and it has darkvision with a range of 60 feet. The mind can telepathically share with you what it sees and hears (no action required).
Whenever you cast a wizard spell on your turn, you can cast it as if you were in the arcane mind's space, instead of your own, using its senses. You can do so a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
As a bonus action, you can cause the arcane mind to hover up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you or it can see. It can pass through creatures but not objects.
The spectral mind stops manifesting if it is ever more than 300 feet away from you, if someone casts Dispel Magic on it, if the Awakened Spellbook is destroyed, if you die, or if you dismiss the arcane mind as a bonus action.
Once you conjure the mind, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher to conjure it again.
Level 10: Adept of the Order
Due to your devotion to the Order of the Scribes, your Awakened Spellbook has granted you additional benefits:
- Spells you cast no longer require verbal components.
- You can learn one additional spell per wizard level (4 instead of 3).
- Once per long rest, you can cast any 1st or 2nd level spell in your spellbook at one level higher. This spell does not consume a spell slot and spell cast doesn't need to be prepared.
Level 14: Master of the Order
At 14th level, your connection to your Awakened Spellbook has become so profound that your soul has become entwined with it. While the book is on your person, you have advantage on all Intelligence (Arcana) checks, as the spellbook helps you remember magical lore.
- Your Awakened Spellbook now creates additional pages to hold an infinite number of spells.
- Once per long rest, you can cast any spell (1st through 5th level) from your spellbook without expending a spell slot, no preparation spells included.
