Base Class: Monk
Warriors of Piercing Wrath devote themselves to mastering the spear, transforming one of the simplest weapons into an extension of their own bodies. Through relentless training, they learn to strike with impossible speed and precision, driving their weapons through the smallest openings in an enemy's defenses and keeping their foes at the perfect distance.
Level 3: Polearm Expertise
Your mastery of the spear allows you to wield it as naturally as your own body. You can use the Weapon Mastery property of Spears.
In addition, whenever one of your Monk features allows you to make or use an Unarmed Strike, you can use a Spear instead. For the purposes of your Monk features, an attack made with a Spear counts as an Unarmed Strike.
Level 3: Spear Techniques
You have mastered a variety of techniques that allow you to adapt your spear fighting to any situation. While you wield a Spear in two hands using its Versatile property, the Spear has the Reach property. While you wield a Spear in one hand, you gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls you make with it.
In addition, once per turn when you hit a creature with a Spear, you can use one of the following Spear Techniques.
- Disarming Twist. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your Focus DC or drop one object of its choice that it is holding.
- Staggering Jab. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your Focus DC or have the Prone condition and be pushed 5 feet away from you.
- Sweeping Edge. You change the attack's damage type to Slashing. Choose up to two other creatures within 5 feet of the target. Each chosen creature must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Focus DC, taking Slashing damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.
- Two-Ended Strike. You strike with the opposite end of your spear immediately after the initial attack. The target takes an additional 1d6 Bludgeoning damage.
Level 6: Impaling Pierce
You can channel your Focus into a single, devastating thrust capable of piercing through multiple foes. As an action while wielding a Spear, you can expend 1 Focus Point to strike in a 10-foot-long, 5-foot-wide Line originating from you. Each creature in the Line must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Focus DC.
On a failed save, a creature takes Piercing damage equal to two rolls of your Martial Arts die. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage.
The damage increases to three rolls of your Martial Arts die when you reach Monk level 11 and four rolls when you reach Monk level 17.
Level 11: Technique Master
Your mastery of the spear allows you to weave multiple techniques together in rapid succession. You can now use up to two Spear Techniques per turn, instead of one. You can still use only one Spear Technique per attack.
In addition, you gain access to the following special Spear Techniques. Unlike your other Spear Techniques, you choose to use one of these techniques when you make an attack with a Spear, before the attack roll is made. These techniques count toward the number of Spear Techniques you can use each turn.
- Precise Strike. You gain a +1 bonus to the attack roll. You can expend up to 3 Focus Points when you use this technique, increasing the bonus by 1 for each Focus Point spent.
- Slowing Slice. If the attack hits, the target's Speed is reduced by 5 feet until the end of your next turn. You can expend up to 3 Focus Points when you use this technique, reducing the target's Speed by an additional 5 feet for each Focus Point spent.
- Weak Point. The attack scores a Critical Hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20. If the attack scores a Critical Hit, roll the attack's damage dice three times, instead of twice.
Level 17: Piercing Barrage
You can unleash a relentless flurry of spear thrusts too swift for the eye to follow. As an action while wielding a Spear, you can expend 3 Focus Points and choose one creature within your Spear's reach. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Focus DC.
On a failed save, the target takes Piercing damage equal to eight rolls of your Martial Arts die. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage.
If the target fails the saving throw, you can also move it up to 10 feet directly away from you, as the force of your repeated strikes drives it backward.
