Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Remembrance use their musical talents not for the merriment of a tavern or for the rallying of an army, but for the remembrance of those who have been lost. Bards of this college are often not as popular as others, given their tendency to kill the mood of parties or to sit in quiet contemplation rather than be the life of the party. The most likely place they are seen to be welcome is at times of death and mourning, or to sing the tales of a hero lost on the battlefield so their memory is not lost to those who survived.

These Bards also seem to have an inexplicable connection to the dead, and possibly even to the Shadowfell. As such, they are seen almost like a rival college to the College of Glamour, just as the gloom of the Shadowfell is the opposite of the vivid emotion of the Feywild. But through this power, they can cast spells which give them a limited control over death itself...

Death of the Spoken Word

At 3rd level, Bards of the College of Remembrance can focus on the body of one dead creature. For one hour they can speak to the departed spirit of this creature, understanding it's language and it understanding theirs. if the creature was hostile to the Bard in life, they will remain hostile and unwilling to cooperate in death. if the creature does not speak a language, but can understand a language understand a language, they cannot answer any questions directly, but may direct the Bard to what the answer may be. This feature can be used a number of times equal to the Bard's charisma modifier per short or long rest.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Remembrance at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the History, Religion, and Insight skills

Striking with Malice a Forethought

Starting at 6th level, Bards of this college gain the ability to weave necrotic energies to inflict more damage in combat. As a Bonus Action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration, then target one allied creature, when that creature next hits a weapon or spell attack, roll your inspiration dice, and deal necrotic damage equal to the result to the target of the attack. Also, if the target of the attack dies as a result of this, if they were a medium or small humanoid and they were not a construct or undead, you can resurrect them as if by the effects of the Animate Dead spell by expending one spell slot.

For Whom the Bell Tolls

At 14th level, Bards of this college are now envoys to the other side, and as such can see the future deaths of any creature they come across. As an action, you can target one creature you can see within 120ft of you, and force that creature to see a premonition of it's own death. That creature must make a Wisdom saving throw higher than your Spell Save DC. On a success, the creature is frightened of you. On a failure, the creature is frightened of you, and takes 1d8 extra necrotic damage from every damage source for 1 minute. This feature can only be used once per long rest.
