Druid
Base Class: Druid

Druids who are members of the Circle of the Moonbeam understand the mystical power of the pale light of the moon. These druids seek to both study and guard the secrets of this light, and as such tend to be more learned than those of other circles. Their magic can wield terrible power at times, and those that learn to cast their conscience over the silvery strands of moon-weaved fate can learn much about the world.

Scourge of Moonlight

When you choose this circle at 2nd level, you learn moonbeam, except that it is always prepared, doesn't count against your spells known, and cannot be cast unless you are capable of casting 2nd level spells. In addition, by expending one use of your Wild Shape as a bonus action, you can transform into a 10-foot diameter cylinder of 40-foot-high semisolid moonlight for a number of rounds equal to your druid level.

While in this form, you have 10 hit points per druid level you possess, AC 14, no Strength score, and a Dexterity and Constitution score of 10. You gain resistance to attacks made by non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing weapons, move at a speed of 30 feet, ignore difficult terrain, gain blindsight out to 60 feet, and can move through and end your turn in occupied squares, though you cannot pass through solid walls or doors. You can only take the dash on your turn, though you may still use your action or bonus action to manipulate spells you've previously cast.

If a creature begins its turn in your space, it must made a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or take 1d10 radiant damage per two druid levels you possess, rounded up. Creatures that pass their saving throw take half damage. When the form ends, you always reform at the lowest point the moonlight touches. While this form does enable you to safely and instantly descend sheer drops, you cannot use it to climb a sheer wall taller than 30 feet.

Will of the Moon

Starting at 2nd level, you use your Intelligence modifier, instead of your Wisdom modifier, for all Druid class abilities, saving throw DCs, spell attack rolls, and other Druid features. In addition, you gain advantage on all Intellegence-based checks and saving throws when not in the direct light of the sun. Any amount of light through windows or clouds that do not entirely block the sun's rays will still deny you this advantage.

In addition, because of this intense connection with the moon, you can only Wild Shape into creatures of CR 1/2 or lower, regardless of level.

Circle Spells

Your mystical connection to the light of the moon grants you a preternatural knowledge of things that could be, as well as access to weaponized moonlight. The following spells are druid spells for you, you always have them prepared, and they don't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day:

Moonbeam
Druid Level Spells

3rd

blindness/deafness, spiritual weapon

5th

phantom steed, tongues

7th

divination, locate creature

9th

legend lore, scrying

In all cases, if a spell has a visible effect, its effect is made of moonlight. The phantom steed spell, for example, is made of a shimmering, semi-opaque light.

Moonlight Wrath

Starting at 6th level, when you cast moonbeam, it occupies a 15-foot diameter instead of 10 feet, and rises 80 feet into the air. In When you cast the spell, you may choose any number of creatures to exclude from the it, and they neither take damage from the spell nor are changed if they are a shapechanger. In addition, you may choose between hardened light and blinding light when you cast the spell.

  • If you chose hardened light, creatures in the beam when it is cast and those that start their turn there make their saving throws at disadvantage.
  • If you chose blinding light, creatures that fail their saving throws are blinded until the start of their next turn.

Shimmering Ward

When you reach 10th level, you can’t be blinded, and you gain immunity to radiant damage. In addition, you gain truesight out to 120 feet, but only for determining the true identity of shapechangers, whether via magic or supernatural means. In addition, when you use your Scourge of Moonlight ability, you may expend two uses of Wild Shape in total to apply your Moonlight Wrath ability to that form.

Moonwalk

When you reach 14th level, you gain the ability to traverse the Material Plane using moonlight. As long as the moon is out, you may use an action to send yourself on its light as if using dimension door, except the range increases to one mile. You may use this feature a number of times per long rest equal to 1 + your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1).

In addition, once per long rest, you may ride the moonlight as an action to another destination on the same plane, using the rules for teleport, except that both the origin and destination of the spell must both be bathed in moonlight, and it must be within three days of a full moon, either before or after.
